Volunteering in my place is one of fun experience for volunteers cause you will get new knowledges and experiences. You also will meet new people with different languages and cultures. Any volunteers who come from any backrounds and any various educational backgrounds are welcome. Cross culture understanding is a great thing to learn. we can exchange each other's culture, language, education and lifestyle.

Hi everyone. My name is Han I'm 28 y.o and i'm a single guy and i'm an english teacher,i live at a small village in bondowoso city it calls kembang. I live with my dad, grandma, sister and my brother. My dad's name is Zen he is an english teacher for elementary in local school around my village,he is about 50 y.o now. My brother is Roy,he is 24 y.o and he works at a small printing office as image designer. My grandma is Fatimah, she is about 69 y.o now. She is as a housewife in our house, she just cook food for us,she doesn't work anymore. My little sister is Umamah, she is 5 y.o and she is in kindergarten school now. My parents devorced many years ago, thats why my mom doesn't stay with us.My mom lives with her new husband in other village in Bondowoso. There are 3 languages spoken in bondowoso like Indonesian,Javanese,Madurese. Indonesian is our official language.. My family speak all of those languages. I can speak Indonesian, english fluently, estonian, little arabic and local languages javanese, sundanese or madurese.. my dad speaks Indonesian, english and arabic fluently and he speaks local languages too.. my brother, sister, and grandma can understand english 80% and they speak Indonesian, madurese and javanese. My village has great nature,it isn't hot but it isn't cold too. I'll say it is cool and fresh here.. there are many living plants in my village like coconut trees, rice fields, cacao plantations, watermelon plantations, vegetables and many other things around.Tobacco is also common here.. so my village is green view.My village is very strategic it is about 7 minutes to the central of Bondowoso and it is also near to the mountain,we can see the view of the mountain very clear from my village. We can also go for hiking to the mount,it is about 1,5 hours by feet. My house has 2 private rooms for volunteers, one living room, traditional kitchen, dining room, bathroom and toilet. There are 3 more rooms for my family to sleep at. I have 2 motorbikes as transportations..we can use them for going to teach and for going somewhere to see around bondowoso. There is wifi in my house for internet access,it is unlimited access. There are also fans in every each rooms whenever needed,we don't have air conditioning because we don't need it. My village is always cool in 2 seasons, dry season(summer) and rain season..summer which usually occurs more often. Volunteers will get breakfast, lunch, and dinner in my house. Sometimes we have dinner outside.. foods and drinks are free to have. Eat whenever you are hungry, its very welcome or you may also cook by your self if you want to make western food. All about those are so flexible ;). I built a small English Course with my dad to make students in Bondowoso better of education especially English.we create two types of study groups like private class and collective class.. we teach private students in their own house,so we move from house to house and collective class students is in my house. We also teach students at my dad's school on monday and thursday. Volunteers will have day off twice in a week sunday and tuesday, where you can use your free time to go for a walk, climb a mountain, go to the beach or visit neighbor city around bondowoso. You can also come with me for hang out with my friends at cafe in the town. My home english course is none benefit project/it isn't profitable project it is kind of a half charity.. So we really need volunteers who has the same vision as us. People from around the world from any backround and any various educational backgrounds are the most welcome to join our project and being volunteers.

Coming to Bondowoso was really the highlight of my bacpacking-trip, and I am forever grateful for all the fantastic experiences, and all the amazing people I got to meet!☺️☺️ Han was the best host ever, so welcoming. He showed me around town, and I got to meet his friends and family, who were all so kind🫶 I felt like a part of the family, and I will try my best to come back and visit someday❤️ Truly a one of a kind experience, and something I will never forget!

I really enjoyed getting to know Hans and sitting in on his private tutoring sessions. Hans is a very welcoming, generous, and kind person. This not only shows through his words, but also his actions. He really cares about his students learning and delivering high quality teaching. While volunteering, Hans took me around Bondowoso, around the village, he's made me feel very comfortable and he's very approachable. I hope that someday, Hans can visit me in the USA when he visits.

I had so much fun with Han and his family! They were all so welcoming and very kind. I felt right at home and anything I needed he made sure to get it for me. Teaching the students was also so much fun. I felt like I learned a bit in class as well. Would highly recommend coming here if you want to see local life in Java :)

It was an amazing two weeks spent here! The family took you in as their own! The nan cooks the most amazing food, making sure you have eaten haha. Mr Han the host always made sure you were okay and nothing was ever too much to ask; true gentlemen. Mr Zen was a kind hearted man, always giving his best to everyone! Nothing was ever to much to ask! Would recommend this to anyone for a heartwarming 2 weeks with the best family, and dive into to the local culture trying new foods and most importantly being given the opportunity to help children progress in their English talking skills!

Where to even begin.💛 All round BEAUTIFUL experience. Mr Zen, Han & the rest of the incredible family are the warmest, kindest people who go above and beyond for your stay. The most authentic experience filled with love, so much laughter & growth for travellers wanting to fully immerse in true East Javanese culture. The job Mr Zen & Mr Han do for the students of Bondowoso is spectacular and the lovely nature of all the students reflects this. We made friends for life from this experience & we couldn’t be more grateful. If you get the chance to stay with this family, seize the opportunity. 🥹❤️
