Everything is fair and as described. Clear instructions on arrival. The work is respectful, with trust in the volunteer’s time management. The place is quiet and peaceful — you can really enjoy nature and beautiful sunsets.

There’s really no tension — the hosts aren’t arrogant, just hardworking people with limited time and energy, which can make them seem a bit reserved. Still, they try to stay open and helpful. It may be not a place for building close relationships or feeling completely at home in an open, relaxed way. Still, you feel safe there, and it’s a really good deal overall!

Overall a passable experience with a balance of positives and negatives.

Positives:
- Very comfortable bed
- Beautiful sunsets
- Learn about off-grid living and land management
- 3 decent meals a day
- Hosts were kind and generous towards us

Negatives:
- Untidy home environment
- Sometimes a tense atmosphere
- Tasks could be more clearly communicated and more support and preparation could have been in place to make tasks easier and faster to complete

Ben and Juliette, we were saddened by your review—not because of the criticisms, but because it reflected such a negative perspective. What you saw as untidiness was simply a mum enjoying holiday time with her daughter, and what you called inconvenience was a family caring for a much-loved dog after surgery. When we reviewed you, we chose to focus on your strengths and show grace. We wish you the personal growth to approach future opportunities with a more open and generous mindset.

TLDR - Spent a good week with Natalie and Damo who are both lovely, would recommend to others. About 20 mins outside of Bundaberg on a rural plot of land. They have a lovely family, a dog and other animals. Most time during the weekdays I was home alone and given free rein over my hours, and you are trusted to do the hours on my own schedule. I had my own room with a nice double bed, and got taken to the beach and also into town on my day off - rum distillery was worth a visit!
Thanks Natalie, Damo, Holly, Banjo (and Sid) !
