Hanoi Buffalo Hostel

Cultural exchange – Volunteers often meet people from all over the world, creating deep, genuine connections with both staff and guests. It’s a great way to experience the local culture beyond the tourist perspective.

Skill-building – Whether it’s reception work, bartending, organizing pub crawls, or leading walking tours, volunteering at a hostel helps develop communication, hospitality, and teamwork skills.

A deeper, slower travel experience – Instead of rushing from one destination to another, volunteers stay longer and become part of a community, gaining a richer understanding of the place.

Fun social atmosphere – Hostels are vibrant and dynamic, filled with events, parties, and activities. Volunteering means you're often at the heart of the action.

Fair work-for-accommodation exchange – Volunteers are not employees, so they should not be overworked. Most hostels ask for 25–30 hours per week in exchange for accommodation and sometimes meals or other perks (like tours or discounts). Also it mixed of local staff as well

It was so fun to work at Buffalo Hostel. The staff and other volunteers are very friendly. I met so many new people everyday and learned so much from them.

I loved my time in Buffalo. You get really close with the other volunteers and honestly thats the best part. I met brothers and friends and I couldn’t be more grateful. The job is fun but be ready for A LOT of partying! The work hours and task were clear and the place to stay is comfortable. I would very much recommend this experience!

I was leading the Pub Crawls for the hostel and had an amazing 1 month. Met people from all over the world, made some good friends (and of course, partied a lot for my job hahah). The work only starts when the free beer starts in evening, so I had the whole day to myself.

The hostel is very good and I’d love to stay here if I was traveling. The beds are cozy, the rooms are spacious, the washrooms are clean and the free beer every evening creates a very social environment.

The staff members are all extremely friendly, welcoming & made me feel comfortable. Would definitely recommend!
