Fosse Farmhouse

Castle Combe in The Cotswolds is one of the most beautiful villages in England.
Fosse Farmhouse in located just 20 minutes walk from the village .
Many tourists stay here from all over the world in particular from Japan to discover this amazing area. The city of Bath is just 12 miles away and Bristol is even closer. The Farmhouse offer's B&B and self catering holiday cottages and is surrounded by fruit orchards and a large garden. The owner Caron Cooper is passionate about business which she has run successfully for over thirty years. Many guests return every year as it feels like a real 'Home away from Home'. Our worldpackers will have an amazing time exploring the local area and meeting all the international guests that stay here.

At Fosse Farmhouse our helpers stay in two Vintage Shepherds Huts in the Garden. Each Shepherds Hut is for single use - sorry but we do not have any accommodation for couples available. There is a separate shower and loo for your own use. During the winter months our helpers have a bedroom in the Farmhouse to use. All meals are eaten together in the Farmhouse kitchen and we do encourage you to cook some of your favourite supper dishes from around the world for us to try. Each morning the B&B guests have a Full English Breakfast served by helpers and if you would like to learn you can help cook it too. After breakfast the bedrooms are serviced which will involve making beds, hoovering, cleaning the bathrooms and tidying up the public areas. After lunch we may do some gardening or baking or general household maintenance. Every week is different as it depends on the number of guests staying and in quiet times there is jam making and dog walking to do plus a Badminton to play in the garden during the summer.

You get your own little cabin, 3 meals a day and an amazing dog (Albi)as a companion! Would highly recommend this for anyone wanting to live out their dream of a countryside life and the slow evenings that accompany it. There are quite a lot of tasks at hand during the day so that will keep you busy! From Gardening, to mowing the lawn, hedge cutting, plucking fruits to the usual daily housekeeping, there are a lot of things to learn for a new comer too.

I really loved meeting you and hosting your first Worldpacker experience!
Your happy smiling face was great to see everyday and the guests all loved communicating with you.
Thank you for your incredible help with all the techie things that I find so difficult to manage.
My website has been given a huge boost thanks to you!
Good luck in the future and I hope that you get the job of your dreams.
Albi misses you too.....

The experience overall was good. I enjoyed taking Carons dog for walks and playing with him, as well as spending time with the other volunteers over tennis in the backyard during our time off. I got the chance to go to castle comb too which was a highlight. The cabin I stayed in was lovely and private.

As summer time is HIGH SEASON in Fosse Farmhouse B&B it is difficult to arrange 3 days off for a volunteer to go camping but eventually we managed!
I would recommend that in future volunteers raise a request for specific time off prior to arrival rather than after they have arrived.
This is a fabulous location in the heart of the Cotswolds and Castle Combe is a huge tourist destination

Volunteering at Caron's B&B was a very good experience ! The tasks were varied and enjoyable, giving me the opportunity to learn new skills while contributing to a beautiful and peaceful environment. Then, Caron is such a friendly and kind person, always ready to share stories, tips about nearby places to visit, and even some of her cooking secrets!
The area around Fosse Farmhouse is also worth exploring. The region is full of beautiful nature, peaceful walking road, and charming villages that give you a real taste of the local culture. I would highly recommend this experience to everyone !

Caron and Fosse Farmhouse were amazing! She took the time to get to know me, as well as telling me the history of the area which was great to know.
It was an amazing, quiet area, with lots of historic architecture to see.
Caron was a great host, she was friendly and attentive (her dog was just an added bonus)

Corey was an absolutely amazing help around the property. There was nothing that fazed him at all he just got stuck in and gave it his best shot! My dog will miss him the most and still sits outside Corey's cabin waiting for him to throw a ball and play......

I spent two weeks here. Caron and the staff are very nice. The house is wonderful, clean and comfy. The place is beautiful and you can go for a walk after work. You can also go to visit different beautiful towns nearby on your days off.
