Finca Sol y Valle

¡Hola! Hi! Salut ! Oi! Ciao!

Welcome to our farm, Finca Sol y Valle.

Disconnect from a city-rushed lifestyle and into a low-paced journey. We are a community of heart-centered people co-creating a more sustainable lifestyle in harmony with nature. The property includes extensive organic gardens for personal consumption, a food forest with over 100 fruit trees, and more than half of the farm is a protected secondary forest with 50+ year old trees. Other areas on the property include a bamboo forest for construction needs and several bio-construction projects. Our project serves as a sustainable, regenerative model contrasting with the chemical-based farms in regions near and far.

The experience at our farm is a dream come true: Wake up with Nature’s orchestra of sounds. Come to the kitchen and join a made-with-love breakfeast. Daily, we all learn from the processes of nature; from seed to the fruit, take part in process of planting, taking care of, harvesting, and eating. In the edible forest, we see and learn from the slower process of fruit trees growing. In the rest of the lush secondary forest, we are able to witness the magnificent older trees of ficus, cedro nogal, targuá, and so much more! In our free time we can be making campfires, jamming to music, and singing prayers to the Great Mystery.

Afternoons are free time for you to relax, read a book, write, take a walk, and socialize with the community. At night, go to bed early and have a proper and well-deserved rest.

Weekends are also free time. Well-being practices like meditation and exercise are highly recommended. You could also take the weekend to visit a local site such as the Irazu Volcano, Guayabo Archeological National Monument, the Organic Market, and more.

Depending on the current project, we can also be harvesting huge bamboo guadua canes to then process to build with them later on. With such natural building practices is how we built our greenhouse, the composting center, the recycling center, the tipi, and more.

This is a small close-knit farm, so we can host up to 5 volunteers at our place. We also have a homestay program, so there is also the possibility to stay at a local family house. :)

In addition to ongoing volunteer opportunity, we also offer courses including our Permaculture Design Course, Spanish Immersion Course, and more.

Contact us and we would love to see how we can connect and work together. We would love to share our beautiful farm with you, all in the beautiful heart of Costa Rica.

¡Pura vida!

We are a team of four young professionals, from Costa Rica and the United States, with the main intention to live from regenerative life practices. We are happy to share our lifestyle with a worldwide community; acting locally and having a positive global impact!

The hosts are very welcoming and make you feel part of the community. The whole farm is amazing. During my stay it was raining every afternoon, but still I had a great time getting to know the community and admiring the nature inside the farm. It was my first experience as an international volunteer and I think I made a great choice. I am very thankful for the experience we shared and all of the new knowledge I got. I you are looking for a place where you can learn a bit of many topics and meet new people this is your place.

A week at Finca Sol Y Valle offers a perfect balance of structured routines, diverse work, personal freedom, and plenty of leisure time.

The team welcomed me warmly, making me feel right at home. They even took us on an amazing trip to a hidden waterfall, which was unforgettable. I stayed for a month, but I’d love to return.

I also loved learning about plant-based diets, improving my cooking skills and experimenting with fresh, local ingredients.

One of my favorite things was exploring the old forest on the property—a peaceful and beautiful serene experience.

Wow. This was much more of a spiritual and metal learning experience to me than anything. Dani, Ana, and Jeff ( and Malcom although he just moved in at the end of my trip :) ) were such special souls, some of the most open, free flowing people I’ve ever met. I could go on and on about this place but if you’re looking for a place to disconnect with outside sources and all the madness in the world, COME HERE! RAIN BOOTS WERE A MUST FOR ME!! I used them everyday for work it’s more convenient than hiking boots because it’s an indoor/ outdoor lifestyle.

I truly loved my stay at Finca Sol Y Valle! Jeff, Dani, and Ana were very welcoming from the beginning and I felt very comfortable. They are passionate about what they do and I was very inspired. I wasn’t sure how I would like the vegan diet as someone who eats everything, but it was not a problem for me at all. I learned so much about the environment and how to live sustainably with nature and couldn’t have asked for a better team! It was such a wonderful experience and I will miss the peaceful slow lifestyle. Thank you Jeff, Dani, and Ana! Love you all❤️

Such a wonderful experience and met some truly incredible people, Dani, Jeff and Ana create such a loving atmosphere and it was such a privilege to wake up in this paradise everyday! The work is very varied as well, some days would be lifting and digging, others would be chopping bananas (there was a constant inundation of ripening bananas during my stay) it’s a short walk to the nearest bus stop so there’s plenty of options to spend your weekends. There was a group of students studying at the farm for two of the weeks, this was great fun and added variety! See you next year Sol y Valle!!! Xx
