English Education Centre For Community(EECFC)

I am Veasna, a Cambodian teacher. I really wanted to help the children of my village in the whole community since there is nobody that knows English and try to improve people’s lifestyle. For this reason, I decided to create this school in 2009, starting from nothing. It was very hard at the beginning, but I was able to overcome the difficulties and built something bigger than me. That’s why we are looking for people that what to help us to provide these students the education that they need and improve our school with other projects like art, music or sport.

In English Education Center For Community (EECFC) we provide English Education to poor kids and youths in the villages of the community of Toek Vill Village, Cambodia, which is only 9Km from Siem Reap town.

I think education is the most important thing for children, young people and humans. It can improve all the people and their situations and helps them to succeed in their future lives.

Our mission is to help our children through education, so they can have more opportunities in the future and hopefully become more independent. In Cambodia the public school is not enough for a kid to have a complete and a good education, so each family has to pay extra tutoring. Many families do not have capacity to cover the costs of tutoring and that’s why this center is so important for so many kids. With this project poor families can provide to their children the education that they deserve.

Right now, in our school we have two allocated teachers teaching 9 classes during the week, 1 hour each, of different levels and abilities. We have 150 students, aged 6 to 25 years old, which some are orphans and are supported by sponsors.

What we expect from the volunteers is: teach English classes; do fun activities with the kids; and sometimes do fundraisings to buy school materials, clothes, shoes, bags and others school supplies for children that don’t have the ability to purchase those things. We are also looking for donations to make all this possible!

The English Education Center For Community (EECFC) have 150 students. We try to give 15 to 20 students a scholarship to study at primary School and High school. We give them the school supplies, uniform, shoes, bikes to get to school. That is why we’re looking for you, for supporters that can donate the amount of money to help us make this project possible and make these kids dreams come true. The three main goals of our donations are to invest: In children whose family can’t afford a proper education. On orphan children. On food to the elderly people that don’t have financial support. So you can help to donate as much as you want directly when you come to Cambodia, or you can send by PayPal veasnatong555@gmail.com. volunteering web My school is located next to my home in the same community. Students come five days a week, from Monday to Friday, so you will have free weekends where you can explore the nearby temples of Angkor Wat, seeing the sunrise in the morning and sunset in the evening on the hill, the Tonle Sap Lake, the amazing rice field or other extraordinary places in Siem Reap. You can book our Tuk Tuk service or personal tours to serve you for a cheaper cost than other service and by that, help the drivers family and contribute with 30% of the costs to the school. If you are interested, we can provide you a cheap guest house and healthy food to eat, or the cheap cost of our Tuk Tuk service from city to our place to teach the children. There is also free Wi-Fi on site. We can arrange a tuk-tuk to collect you from the airport to where you stay in Siem Reap city. Thank you so much for your time!

I was welcomed and felt cared for from the minute I arrived. Veasna was an amazing host and he, his wife, children, and extended family were all quick with smiles and included me in everything. The kids were so fun and happy to be in class. We laughed a lot and they were eager to learn. It was a great experience!

Veasna does an incredible job in the community, making a real impact on the lives of dozens of children. He is very open to new methods and fun activities that we bring. However, sometimes we need his help with translation, as many children don’t yet have a full understanding of the language and may struggle with foreign accents. The school’s facilities are quite simple and they really need help to improvement. The homestay is with a local family that is extremely kind and welcoming, allowing for an even deeper immersion into the culture. They provide bicycles for volunteers. Highly recommend!
