El Nido Feliz /Happy Nest

EN
It’s like an intensive individual course about off-grid life and everything that comes with it mixed by enjoying nature in a wonderful place. How much everyone learns and acquires new skills depends, of course, mainly on the person himself and his motivation.

We are food fanatics and our volunteers often rave about the meals that they receive, but even better, come and bring your own local recipes as we love to learn.
As much as possible, we use meat and vegetables from our farm for cooking.

* We are not vegetarians, but we can cook and feed vegetarians or vegans without any problem. But you must understand that one part of our farm animals are part of our family diet.

* We have a internet but not as good as you need to work online. Our place not suitable for people who need good internet. The availability of a mobil network depends on your service provider. There is no coverage for many networks.

*NB! We have little water, so saving water is extremely important. We spend as much as we need, but the habits of a city person, such as taking a shower every day, are unthinkable. Be ready for it

EN We are here to share our off-grid lifestyle experience. We want to share our knowledge of permaculture, dry land gardening, working with different tools, recycling, making canned food, recognize edible wild plants and much more. Of course, sometimes it also means hard or boring help (like collecting firewood, preparing new vegetable beds, clean chicken house etc.). But we do it all together. Our volunteers are part of our family. NB! We are located 10km from the nearest village and there is no public transport to us. I can pick you up by car in the village of Siete Aguas upon arrival and departure, but those who wish to go to the village or Valencia in their free time must take into account a 20km walk or bike ride (there and back).

I had a great time volunteering here! The place is surrounded by nature, so it’s perfect if you’re looking for peace, fresh air, and meaningful tasks. Every day was a bit different from gardening, to building . The work is physical but rewarding, and I learned a lot.

The hosts there are really helpful, kind and open to sharing their lifestyle and knowledge. The place is remote but beautiful the perfect chance to disconnect from the city and connect with nature.

Volenteering here was a solidly good experience, with a few hiccups.
For starters, I would not recommend coming here during the summer unless you're experienced with high heat, as even the mornings could be ridiculously hot in the sun.
The food was good, with the exception of a lack of protein? This is pretty understandable, I'm a vegetarian, so the only option was pretty much eggs, and those weren't always available. Especially being so far from the nearest town/shops.

But aside from the hiccups, it was definitely worth going. Ingrid and Sanders were very welcoming, and I enjoyed my stay!

Hi Jay. In fact, proteins were constantly present in the diet - chickpeas, lentils, beans, soy milk and goat's milk, goat cheese cakes, eggs, etc.

El Nido Feliz is a beautiful little farm in the most beautiful mountains. Ingrid and Sanders are very welcoming hosts and I felt very safe with them. Their home is a great place to disconnect from all the rush of life and have a moment to connect with nature through farming and animal care. The work was easy and fun, and I had most of my day to myself and my own small activities. I would definitely come back for a visit to enjoy Ingrid´s amazing cooking again and the peace that is present at this place :). Thank you Ingrid and Sanders!

My stay in Nido Feliz helped me to learn that anything can be achievable. I improved my real-life reasoning and focus since I always struggled with this point. Furthermore, I saw how we can minimize the awful impact that we humans do, through adopting a more circular and sustainable approach, when it comes to using renewable resources. The environment was healthy and felt very welcomed in an artistic ambiance that gave me calm and relaxation. Thanks, Sanders and Ingrid.

Living the simple life surrounded by mountains. Milking goats and sending them off to the pasture. Feeding the chickens and collecting their eggs. Work depends on the season and their plans. Might be cleaning up the garden, tilling up the soil, construction projects, etc.

Hosts were very accommodating.
