Cusimaky Cusco

My time at Cusimaky was truly amazing! I’ve stayed for 2 weeks and had multiple sessions with the kids to practice their English and help with some mathematical exercises. All the kids were super nice, friendly and eager to learn. The work all the volunteers do to make this project possible is super important and I hope they are able to provide the support to the kids for many more years. Many thanks to everyone and I would definitely recommend everybody to contribute to this project!

I only spent five sessions with the children and we started learning some basic English together. I think the program would benefit from some more structured English resources and I will look at sourcing those for the program when I return home to Australia.

Volunteering with Cusimaky was an inspiring and rewarding experience. Teaching English to the children, who are eager to learn and full of energy, felt truly impactful - especially knowing how valuable English is in a touristic city like Cusco. The classes are well-organized, and the local team is welcoming and passionate. The small daily fee goes directly to supporting the project and providing materials, which makes a real difference. Highly recommend for anyone looking to contribute meaningfully while experiencing local culture.

Cusimaky is an amazing project that puts the children first. The role of the volunteer is to help with homework, be creative when preparing activities for the children, and create an environment where the children can have fun and be supported and happy. The camaraderie between others volunteers is also amazing since we all worked together with these goals in mind. Another plus is that you will be staying very close to Cusco city so will be able to explore in the mornings and weekends. I would 100% recommend this experience and cannot wait to return to Cusco and spend more time with Cusimaky.

I loved my experience at cusimaky. If you are looking for an authentic experience in Cusco and immersing yourself with the locals in a special and unique way this is the place for you. Lucy, the lady who helps run Cusimaky was extremely welcoming the day I arrived and Yennifer was very helpful and easy to communicate with. Connecting with the kids and helping them with their homework was actually quite enjoyable and I also recommend bringing your talents and getting involved in sharing activities with them. On Friday we go to the park and had the opportunity to teach the kids how to skate!
