Cusimaky Cusco

I loved my time at Cusimaky! It was great to live in the local community and get to know the amazing kids who attend. The classes are well organised and you have the opportunity to plan and deliver short English lessons or activities, and the kids are very enthusiastic and willing to learn. The accomodation provided is very comfortable, and Lucy is such a welcoming host, always there to help with whatever you might need. The area is safe and very local, so you can experience Cusco outside of the touristy areas, while still having time to explore in the mornings and weekends. Muchas gracias!

Muchas Gracias, Polly!
Your time at Cusimaky was wonderful. Thank you for supporting the children with English classes, and for accompanying and helping them at the pool.
These kinds of activities are only possible thanks to volunteers like you — your help was essential.
It was a real pleasure having you with us. You’ll always have a home here in Cusco, and we wish you the best in all your adventures around Latin America.

Feliz viaje!!!!

Volunteering at Cusimaki was the best experiences we have ever had

Helping the children with homework, and organising activities really made us appreciate the importance of the work of this kind of association

Cusimaki is a great opportunity for them to build their future developing new skills. Most of them come from difficult socio-economical situations and they can’t access to extracurricular activities

San Jeronimo isn’t a turistic place so we could deeply connect with the locals
The accomodation is comfortable and cozy. We felt very welcome by Mrs Lucy

Definitely recommend it

My time at Cusimaky was truly amazing! I’ve stayed for 2 weeks and had multiple sessions with the kids to practice their English and help with some mathematical exercises. All the kids were super nice, friendly and eager to learn. The work all the volunteers do to make this project possible is super important and I hope they are able to provide the support to the kids for many more years. Many thanks to everyone and I would definitely recommend everybody to contribute to this project!

I only spent five sessions with the children and we started learning some basic English together. I think the program would benefit from some more structured English resources and I will look at sourcing those for the program when I return home to Australia.

Volunteering with Cusimaky was an inspiring and rewarding experience. Teaching English to the children, who are eager to learn and full of energy, felt truly impactful - especially knowing how valuable English is in a touristic city like Cusco. The classes are well-organized, and the local team is welcoming and passionate. The small daily fee goes directly to supporting the project and providing materials, which makes a real difference. Highly recommend for anyone looking to contribute meaningfully while experiencing local culture.
