Chilli Croc Co-living Hiriketiya

We are looking for bubbly social hosts who can chat to anyone, run a fun game (drinking or not) and make our guests never want to leave!!

Join our vibrant beachside community where food, fun, and connection bring people together. As a volunteer, you’ll help us create unforgettable experiences for travellers from around the globe—from hosting family dinners to organizing social events—all while enjoying free meals, cozy accommodations, and plenty of time to surf, explore, and relax. It’s more than volunteering; it’s finding your tribe and building memories that last a lifetime in paradise!

We are looking for volunteers who are FUN, CHATTY and SOCIAL! Our volunteers are the 'glue' that bring all our guests together, so it is expected that you can talk to just about anyone, encourage them to join our daily activities and help them have a great time while staying with us. Our volunteers are the life of the party at all our daily events. They host our games night and quiz night, and accompany guests on excursions to our partners (villa pool party anyone...?). You'll also be our laundry superstars, working together to smash out the mountain of sheets, towels and blankets we wash everyday.

We are not necessarily a "party hostel." We pre-drink here, but then we take the guests to where the party is. You won't be pouring alcohol into people's mouths... that's not quite our vibe. But you will be helping people make incredible connections and memories, as well as making your own!

At Chilli Croc Co-Living, our friendly local staff is here to make you feel right at home in the heart of Hiriketiya. They bring warm hospitality and insider knowledge of the area, ensuring you have an authentic and unforgettable experience. Volunteers can expect to be treated with respect, kindness, and a sense of family. You’ll work alongside our amazing team and might also share the experience with other volunteers, creating a fun and collaborative atmosphere. From shared meals to group adventures, we’re all about making your time here as meaningful and enjoyable as possible!

My stay at chilli croc co-living, was amazing. I had the greatest time, gaining much experience, through socializing and having a position where my host, let me have responsibility and show my own character.
The manager, Maddi, was truly the best person, I could have started my volunteering journey with. Smiling, comforting and her social awareness and leadership skills, brought the best out of me. She really granted me the best possible “work” environment. I would highly recommend chilli croc, for people coming in the high-season, who want to be responsible for getting smiles on people faces

Several advertised perks were excluded without notice. Hostel events were slow and disengaged. I experienced discriminatory treatment at a venue, after which my host contacted me but handled it with bias and insensitivity, prioritizing groupthink over my concerns. The handling of this situation revealed unprofessionalism and racial undertones in the treatment I received.

I left 2 days early due to feeling completely unsafe. My mistreatment had been throughout all of the South. I let it be, but this experience highlighted no matter how amenable I was, harmful rhetoric and biases spare no one.

Those perks were never advertised or offered by us.

It was your job to ensure hostel events were not slow and disengaged, proving you were not a great fit for this role. I provided you an opportunity to focus on duties that did not involve running events. You agreed to this and then left abruptly with no explanation.

The decision to adjust your role was mine, not groupthink. It was based on prioritising guest experience and removing you from a situation you perceived as discriminatory.

I stayed for arpund 10 days in at the hostel and had a really nice time! I felt welcomed from the first day on and felt very safe in the hostel. Maddi, part of the Crew, Showed me around and introduced me to the Tasks. Work was easy and not long. Mostly I had to take care of the laundry, set up Dinner and Chat with the guests. The guests where all very kind and I was able to participate in gemessen, go to Partys and Events. Food coocked by deepi was always so delicious!! WiFi wasnt always the best, but you dont really need it at the place, since you find other things to do!

Era the host was flexible for the hours and a solid host. The crew for chilli croc was really good avi and suresh were very hospitable. They were going through crew changes while we were there. Lunch and dinner were provided and the food is made well by chef suresh. Tasks are easy to do- beds, basic cleaning, social hosting and content creation.

Era and Hash were amazing hosts who made me feel right at home. This was my first time volunteering and I was a bit scared at first but it turned out to be such a fun experience. I met many like-minded people, did just a couple of hours of chores in the morning, and then had the rest of the day free to enjoy Hiriketiya. The family dinners were always a highlight and created a wonderful sense of community. I’ll definitely come back and will recommend it to fellow travellers! We’ll meet soon Era! Thanks for all the memories.
