Children Legacy Organisation

Since 2011, he runs the school all by himself, teaching over 70 local village children free of charge. To do this, he relies on the help of volunteers to help teach English, Chinese and Donations to assist with buying school supplies including pencils, paper, notebooks, food program and Clean Safe Drinking Water.

Sovannarith will accept you directly as soon as possible as he always need Volunteers.

Sovannarith does a Tuk Tuk service for volunteers as well to be easier to get to the village and support his school. His Tuk Tuk service is to pick everyone up from the airport, bus stops and hotels and also for the Angkor Wat Temple Tour, too. Most volunteers took his Tuk Tuk service to support him as he is a volunteer for the school as well. He needs all supports.

Hello. I am Sovannarith , the volunteer founder and director of the place, a children's charity located in the countryside near Siem Reap I have been running this NGO since 2011 but am in need of volunteers to help this project grow. I speak English and want to Educate our children with a key focus on language skills like English, Chinese and computer skills to give them a better chance in the future. I believe it is very important to help our children to be educated and successful in life. I have Invested in building a water filtration system in my House, which provides FREE clean filtered drinking water to everybody in my village. I also run a Free Food programm once a month to provide food to the poor families in the village. I hope with extra funding this organization will be able to grow and expand reaching out to more children and extra lessons. Anyone who would like to come and support me or teach other languages to the children are very welcome. We have two classrooms where our lessons take place. Volunteers will be accepted directly by Sovannarith. I will reply as soon as possible so please look out for my reply. You are also welcome to contact me directly through watsapp on +85570986677. TEACHING We teach young children Volunteers will teach only 4 or 5 hours a day. 5 days a Week ( Teaching from Monday to Friday). Teaching hours will be divided with other volunteer teachers. We teach students from 6 to 17 years old. MINIMUM STAY 1 WEEK. We accept volunteers who wish to do a short stay or long stay though the long stay is preferred (NO MAXIMUM STAY LIMIT). We would be happy to give you a tour of our school at any time. Note: Volunteers are not allowed to rent motorbikes or scooters to drive to the village or to school during their volunteer work with us because there has been too many accidents and it has been banned by law. In addition to this, a certificate is provided as proof of involvement with the school and it can be used as a reference for any teaching jobs you may want to apply for in the future. The school is the ideal place as a starting point for anyone holding a TEFL certificate (not a must) as it offers the opportunity to practice teaching skills and classroom management, although we do welcome anyone to join - whether you have any prior experience/teaching certificate or not. Accommodation is provided in Homestay as a Cambodian family along with three meals a day, we do ask for a contribution of $10 per day towards food costs, water, housing and internet access. We welcome smokers and non-smokers alike but smoking is not allowed inside the house. We welcome all volunteers and look forward to meeting you. Please put Your Full name and exact volunteering dates on Your email subject. Types of help and learning opportunities: Charity Work, Language practice, Teaching, Help around the house, General Maintenance, Help with Computers/ Internet. VOLUNTEERING As a volunteer, travelers will learn about Cambodia culture and customs, as well as have the opportunity to help the children learn. Often, there are many students but not enough teachers. Volunteers can increase their overall teaching skills and have the perspective from being involved in teaching in an area where there is poverty. LANGUAGE EXCHANGE We are in need of and can host up to 6 volunteers at a time for a Minimum of one week. We welcome volunteers that can speak any other languages aside from English,(Chinese, Korean, Italian, etc.) or if you have other skills such web design in Word press, or Carpentry skills making chairs, tables and benches, all skills are welcome. Myself and the students are very eager to exchange our Khmer language for new languages from around the world. Looking forward to sharing our language! Sovannarith and his family showed incredible hospitality cooking three very high quality meals a day. the village is remote but everyone is friendly and it is very rewarding teaching the children English in the hopes of changing their lives. Sovannarith has made a clean, free water station for the whole village which is important when it comes to health as before the village did not have access to clean water. Teaching was spread out through the day which meant you could go for walks and interact with the other people who live in the village.

My partner and I had an incredible time here in Sovann's village. We worked about 4-5 hours each day with classes spreadout between the morning and afternoon/evening. He gives you workbooks to teach the kids and how you decide to do it is up to you, so we had fun figuring out what worked best with all of our personalities. We ate plenty of food and Sovann really welcomed us into his home and made us feel comfortable. The bedroom gets quite hot so beware of that, but there are fans a fridge to keep waters. I would love to come back here and see Sovann and the kids! Thank you for everything!!

I wish I could have stayed longer! Sovannarith and his family were gracious and welcoming. There were lots of cats and dogs who liked to hang out in the front of the house, and I think it’s because they can tell they will be well taken care of at Sovann’s. I loved spending time teaching the kids, and learned a lot about local culture through the experience. I would recommend this to anyone hoping to learn more about themselves through teaching, and about Cambodian culture!

An amazing experience to connect to a local community and support the kids. You will be staying in the hosts home with basic living conditions. If you are fine with this, then you will have a great time with the kids. They are the best & the host family are all so lovely too! I did expect the host to communicate the tasks to me. There were a few volunteers there, so I ended up asking them. There are 2 class groups (A & B) with classes in the morning & late afternoon. It was nice having other volunteers there to pass the time or share tuk tuk journeys to centre, the location is a bit isolating!

Sorry for that case. At that time, as I told you that I was taking other volunteers for a tour at Angkor Wat. That's why I couldn't reach you on time.
Usually, when new volunteers arrived, have to join other volunteers and the lessons will be explained by volunteers what pages and what lessons are in different classes.
Hope this is not a problem 😁🙏❤️🙏

Overall we had a rewarding time volunteering at CLO - the key being we had a fantastic group to work alongside (8 of us total), great for work sharing and made downtime more fun (daily walk to bubble tea 20 mins away!). Sovannarith and his wife Ol were very accommodating of my partner & I being vegan - providing veggie and rice based lunches and dinner as well as fresh fried delights from the local market for brekky. The location without access to bicycles is quite isolating and accommodation is very rustic, walking is not permitted near any temple grounds so be careful to avoid big $ fines.
