CAMP

You will be in one of the most open-minded and accepting villages in Mexico. Zipolite is the most gay-friendly place in Mexico, and people with alternative lifestyles choose Zipolite either for short-term stays or as permanent residents. There are a lot of activities around spirituality and conscious living in this area, so you will have the chance to attend ceremonies, ecstatic dance events, temazcales, workshops and sharing circles with like-minded people. You will be able to practice Spanish and to learn about the local culture of Oaxaca, and by participating in the day-to-day operations of our place, you can also learn about tourism and hospitality management.

Our place was founded by Anthony, an architect; Maybel, a trans-disciplinary artist; and Daniel, a doctor and dancer. It is run by Ernesto, a body therapist and stage artist, and there's a few other permanent residents, like a chef, a body therapist, an architect, Leyla, our one-eyed cat, and Popote, our charming dog. We are all easygoing people, dedicated mostly to art, spirituality and conscious living.

Staying at Camp was a lovely experience. It was very quiet and peaceful. There were not many guests while I was there, and the town was pretty quiet, but it was just what I needed after being in a big city! I loved getting to know the hosts and the other people that were living/working there. Ernesto was so kind and welcoming. We gathered to play music together a couple of times while I was there and Ernesto personally showed me around the town. It was really interesting to learn about the area and the way people live here. I feel honored to have spent a week here.

My time at CAMP was amazing! It's a beautiful paradise where you can slow down, connect with nature, and meet wonderful souls from all over the world. The volunteering work for website is well organized with clear instructions that made everything easy to follow, and I got to learn some new skills along the way. I really enjoyed my time working with Anthony & Ernesto:) Zipolite itself is pure magic with kind people and incredible energy, and I felt so welcomed both at CAMP and in the town. If you’re looking for an inspiring place to volunteer and recharge, I can’t recommend CAMP enough.

My experience at CAMP was great! Surrounded by nature and greenery, the structure itself is beautiful and provides a peaceful environment. Ernesto, the host, is a truly caring and attentive person. During my stay, we even experienced a hurricane, but the place proved to be safe and well-prepared. I would recommend volunteering at CAMP to anyone looking with a meaning connection with nature and locals.
