Bushrangers Cottage

Chill household that like projects and activities on 10 acres of rural bushland.
40 minutes bus or cycle from Hobart city.

This 1860s cottage was home to famous bushranger Martin Cash.
It is a quirky, run-down old cottage needing a lot of work, but it cute with a lot of character!

As part of a houseshare environment; Corinne, Mark, Richard, Paul and Beetle the dog. We have quite busy lives and are always coming and going. Sometimes we will have shared meals, games, movie nights, ect. Other times just chill on your own and have a bit of independence. Make yourself at home!!! Help yourself to the communal food whenever you want, sort out your own breakfast & lunch. Sometimes we have dinner together, other times we might be working or out, but there will always be food in the fridge and pantry. We appreciate people who have the initiative to get stuck into jobs if they see it needs done, without having to be micromanaged or always told what to do.

I only stayed 3 days unfortunately, wish I would have had more time. Corinne is a very inspiring woman, you will be able to learn a lot about all different sorts of things. The cottage is very cozy as well as the room I was staying in and the food was !DELICIOUS! We celebrated Christmas and played board games, I met many interesting people here. Corinne also took me on a little roadtrip down south - incredible grateful for this experience. My tasks were helping around the house and planting new trees, but I’ve had enough breaks in between to explore the area and spend some alone time.

I had a short but great stay at the cottage ! The place is full of history, and Corinne is a humble force of nature, full of energy. I met some great people and shared moments with her friends and housemates. Beetle, the dog, will soon become your companion. I spent some rewarding time working in the garden, which I really enjoyed. I mostly got around on foot or by public transport, though a bike was available too. If you enjoy gardening, cooking, lighting fires, sharing with others, board games, music, movies, a friendly dog, and occasional chicken chases, this is the perfect spot for you!

I haven’t had the chance to meet Corinne in person or her beautiful property, since I ended up volunteering at her friend’s place, in Hounville. I agreed with the change and I’m grateful for the new experience and challenges. Tasmania is beautiful!

I hope to be able to volunteer at the Bushranger Cottage when I return to Australia!

I’m sure it would have been great 😊

I am incredibly grateful for the time I was able to spend here. The cottage is home to a lovely community: Corinne, Marc, Richard, Paul, as well as the sweet dog, Beetle, and a few chickens.

Corinne is an absolutely wonderful, lovable powerwoman who made sure that I got to see as much of Tassie as possible during my short time here. I was always free to take the bike & free to decide when and what I wanted to "work" on – it was very generous, and what I did was really cool, like planting trees, for example.

I will truly miss this adorable cottage and the amazing people here. ♡

Corinne replied

Worldpackers "We consider negative reviews with 3 stars or less". So I'm surprised & hurt that Gabriel left a negative review. He didn't communicate there were any issues during his time here and I checked in several times if he needed anything. I asked after if there is anything I could have done to improve his stay and he said he didn't realise 3 stars was negative. Worldpackers policy is that you cannot amend your reviews and 3 stars can result in suspension of account. A bit unfair
