Barnton Bunker

Barnton Bunker is a great place to learn new skills and meet new people. Travellers will have the opportunity to stay in a truly unique location and be part of a one of a kind restoration project. Our volunteers will have the chance to learn new skills and develop existing ones. They will meet the locals already part of the restoration project and no doubt form new long lasting friendships.

I am a hard worker and task driven and I like to work with people that have a drive to complete tasks. Volunteers are treated with respect and have the freedom to decide how they can best help the charity achieve its goals.

Volunteering at the Bunker was exactly the immersive experience I needed, I had the chance to try different roles, meet people from many different backgrounds, and truly connect with the place. I also fell in love with Edinburgh, and volunteering here is a great way to experience the city from a perspective beyond just the tourist center. I would definitely come back and stay longer if I get the chance someday.

I enjoyed my stay and it is a great place to contribute your own ideas and start projects.
Everyone was really open to different ideas of contribution and it’s a creative and free space.
However that can also lead to a lack of structure and I felt a bit lost at the beginning.
Still a great experience though and the location is great to explore Edinburgh :)

Barton Bunker is a truly wonderful place, full of surprises. Imagine a secret bunker hidden inside a beautiful park — that’s where I had one of the most special experiences of my life.

Volunteering there is dynamic, with something new to do or someone to connect with every day. The atmosphere feels like a small but close-knit family. The work is fun, diverse, and full of learning opportunities.

Located in of the most beautiful cities in the world, I made great friends, learned new skills, and stayed longer than planned because it truly felt like a second home.
