🌟 the MOST SOCIAL Hostel in Chiang Rai, Thailand! 🛏️

Best decision I made! It was my first time volunteering at a hostel but Joe and First and all the other volunteers warmly welcomed me into the family. The hours are set and the tasks are all reasonable. Doing check ins, and maintaining the common areas. You will still have plenty of time to interact or join tours with other travelers or jist do your own thing. I made such good friends here and for that I'll always be grateful for the opportunity. I left feeling like I'm leaving a second home. Highly recommended whether you are volunteering or just staying as a traveler.

The experience at the hostel is exceptional. From the moment I arrived, they welcomed me like a family. First and Jou are wonderful people. I have a great love for them and this beautiful city Chiang Rai. They taught me the activities to do, I was able to practice English and it is a lot about teamwork and responsibility. The stay was always a combination of adventure exploring new places, making new friends, and sharing with everyone in the evening activities. I'd love to return soon.

Great location to immerse in local culture and way to meet international travellers, the team are very informative regarding things to do and travel information. The tasks vary from each shift/day but Pear, Bam and Sagar are great support and bring great energy to the Hostel!

The hostel was a good place for all travelers to come together and socialize. There were daily activities for the guests and volunteers. You worked a set of 4 hours each day, with a day off a week. The work was simple and straightforward, and gave you a chance to learn about the behind the scenes operations of running a hostel. First was amazing, and super helpful, always making sure we were well taken care of. Only drawback was the other owner. He had a short temper, and would lash out on volunteers and guests. Overall it was a good experience.

Thank you for your honest feedback. Running a hostel is like captaining a slow boat—mostly smooth sailing, but sometimes there’s turbulence. During peak season we were short‑staffed, and even with two volunteers in hospital, we still visited them between double shifts.

I’m sorry if anything felt unprofessional. I only wish you’d said so sooner—maybe over that Mexican feast and margaritas I hosted as a team apology. Best of luck!

In my first week volunteering here, I had an accident that left me unable to walk for weeks. Joe, First, and the other volunteers took incredible care of me. They gave me a place to stay, and despite the hard parts, I always felt loved, valued, and supported. This place truly makes you feel at home. I never imagined being in northern Thailand crutching my way to the hospital each day, missing home while hearing Christmas music through the hospital speakers in November. Yet even in those moments I never wanted to leave. This place makes you feel like everything will be okay, no matter what.
