Raspberry organic farm

Our organic farm is located in east Slovenia (near Celje) on a beautifull hill. Our family decided 11 years ago to move from town, to the countryside. Since our movement, the farm keeps on growing. We started with cattle breeding.
We have 4ha of pastures, where we graze Highland cattles. On the farm are also laying hens.
On almost 1ha we grow raspberries. The picking season is from beginning of July, till the end of September (it can be also longer-until November)- depending on the weather.
We have also a lot of different work every season (organising, cleaning, mowing lawn, harvesting wood, ...)
The area is green all around, so everyone can enjoy his time in peace, surrounded with animals and nice people.
At the moment we have few highland cattle, chickens, roosters, a cat and a dog.
You can learn everyday something new on our farm.

We need 5 hours help per day, one day per week off (we agree about the day few days in advance). The main work is from July till October when the picking season for raspberries is - we pick them usually from 06.00-10.00 sometimes also in the evening from 18.00-20.00 - depends of the quantity of raspberries and weather. At that time also weeding the plant is needed- we ussualy do that in the evening hours. We also need occasional help by taking care of the animals (food and water supply, animal pasture, health control,..) all our animals are friendly and easy to take care of. The occasional help is also bromming around farm, tidying up (inside/outside), renovation, different repairs, firewood preparation,lawn moving, cooking and other small projects... But the main help needed on our farm is picking the raspberries and weed control. We have a separated facility with bathroom, kitchen, place to hang out and separated places with beds (usually for two volunteers in one place). Free Wi-fi available. Laundry is possible (Saturday or Sunday). Food for all meals is provided. Breakfast before or after morning tasks- prepared by volunteers. Between 13.00-15.00 we provide warn meal- - or volunteers cook meal together. Dinner is made by volunteers. In the area many activities are possible (hiking, lakes, city center, river,..) bike is available on our farm. We offer you pick up/ drop off on your arrival/departure day to nearest bus station. If we have time we can offer you transport to bus station on your day off, or take you to the city when we go. You can take two days of together, while staying for two weeks. Working with Monika, Jure, family and friends was incredibly inclusive, respectful and productive. This, while regularly sharing laughs.
Their hard working attitude, multitasking many projects in parallel inspired me.

I cannot recommend this volunteering experience enough! We had so much blast on Monika's farm, I don't even know what to pinpoint first! The work was varied and interesting, the working hours were always respected and we still had plenty of time to explore the surroundings. Monika and her family are so kind, respectful, interesting and funny and we were so happy to spend some time with them. Plus, all of the animals are absolute cuties and the nature around the farm is breathtaking. You will definitely not regret coming here, you will only regret not staying longer as we did :)

Um lugar incrível! Natureza exuberante e uma família muito amigável e divertida! O trabalho diário é colher framboesas, e se sobrar tempo fazer controle de ervas, alimentar os animais, regar plantas e preparar lenha. No tempo livre, vc pode nadar no rio em Vojink, visitar o castelo em Celje, caminhar até a igrejinha ou explorar. Sempre que podia, a Monika nos chamava para caminhar com os cães, comer na sua casa, além de nos dar caronas e mostrar a região. Até fomos conhecer uma fazenda mais tradicional e tivemos um café da manhã esloveno maravilhoso! Dormi e comi muito bem todos os dias. :)

had the best time and loved every bit of my time here. This was my first volunteering experience and honestly I couldn’t have asked for a better start. Monika was so personable and really took the time to get to know everyone, making sure we all felt comfortable and had fun. The work itself was easy, varied (so it never felt repetitive), and the hours were really fair with plenty of free time to explore. The surrounding area is beautiful, and Monika and Jure often helped us get around so we could see more of it. I’d definitely recommend this experience to anyone — I’ll 100% be back!! 🩵

I loved my time at the raspberry farm! Monika and Jure go out of their way to make sure that everyone has a really positive experience. The tasks were enjoyable and always explained clearly to everyone. The area is beautiful and there are lots of walks around. We had plenty of free time and Monika was always willing to offer suggestions on where we should go and often help us get to places. I would absolutely recommend this volunteering experience!
