Hi, my name is Leo. It’s my first time volunteering and I’m truly thankful for the experience. Nina “The Mom” and her daughter in law Dina treated me like family — always helpful, always making sure I had food, comfort, and everything I needed. Sofia surprised me with its amazing hikes, friendly people from all around the world, and a peaceful vibe. The job became easy once I mastered the routine. Grateful for everything. Recommended and I will come back later ✈️🫶🏼❤️

The owner’s treatment of volunteers is deeply humiliating. She switches from a friendly tone to yelling and scolding without reason, creating a tense and unpredictable environment. There is no patience to teach, only constant pressure, aggressive corrections, and looks of contempt. I saw a new volunteer being yelled at, shamed, and expelled on his first day with zero empathy, and two others left after experiencing her mistreatment. The owner unloads her frustration on volunteers, creating ongoing emotional abuse. and the work is too hard. This is not a safe or healthy place. I do not recommend

Juanfran completed his stay, and we chose not to give him a low rating to avoid harming his profile. For future hosts: he arrived without familiarizing himself with the information provided, which created difficulties throughout his stay. His profile photo is misleading, as guests found him unpleasant, unsmiling, and aloof, resulting in negative feedback. He does not seem suited for client-facing roles.

The experience was different from what I expected. I wanted to learn English, but the host was unaware of this and did not speak English, and there was pressure to learn quickly, which I also noticed affecting other volunteers. Tasks included reception, cleaning, and organization, often extending beyond scheduled hours to complete the “final review.” The room had no wardrobe, and there were extra costs not mentioned, such as the dryer. I left on the second day, refused to exchange positive reviews, and received a “no-show,” forcing me to reorganize my trip.

All details about tasks and accommodation were clearly provided in our profile and messages, but it seems they were not fully reviewed before your arrival. The whole problem is that you didn’t look at our profile or read our messages beforehand. Upon arrival, you realized the role did not meet your expectations and decided to leave immediately. While this caused us serious difficulties in finding a replacement, we chose not to leave a negative review to avoid affecting your new profile.

My experience at Hostel N1 in Sofia was challenging. The workload was heavier than expected and cleaning supplies were often in poor condition. Communication with the management was difficult, and some of the listed benefits like free laundry and tours were not as described. The location was great, and the volunteer room was small but felt safe; however, there were no keys or lockers provided, which made storing personal items inconvenient. I hope the host improves organization and clarity for future volunteers.

The hostel has a great atmosphere, with well-established rules, and there are always great people arriving from all over the world. So it's a great place to make friends and meet new people.
