Columbus Rooftop Hostel
At Columbus you will join part of a huge community of Gran Canaria island.
Our place is fun, sunny most of the time during the year. The island has a lot of micro climates, you can enjoy hiking in mountains, different types of sport, socialising with guests, find new friends.
Volunteers are part of the hostel family, we make sure they have everything they need to feel comfortable here. To extend their skill, comfort zone, language exchange, travelling experiences. Here you will get to know a wider variety of people doing the exact same thing as you, join part of a wider community on the island, get involved.
First and foremost in the building everybody is treated with complete and utter respect. Kindness and compassion is what we show to each other. Our strength is our location and the vibes. You will be part of a family, if this is going to be your first adventure, dont worry, we are going to take care of you :) We have a maximum stay policy of 2 months, but are always open to great people returning to us.

I really enjoyed my time at the hostel :) I stayed here for a month and lowkey wish that I would’ve stayed longer. Alessia is a great manager who cares for the volunteers‘ and guests‘ needs!!
This hostel is also the most social hostel I‘ve ever been to, so there was never any awkward silence as you were always talking to somebody :)
It really was a pleasure to organize the hostels events and getting to meet so so many people from all over the world.
All in all, my experience, especially towards the end, was amazing and I definitely would love to do it again sometime :)

I really enjoyed staying in Columbus Hostel! The other volunteers were super nice and we had a great time together. The working hours are always respected and the work wasn’t difficult to do. There was plenty of time to explore the island and especially the old town where the hostel is located.
I am very happy that I chose Columbus hostel to be my first volunteer experience!

My experience at the Columbus rooftop hostel was amazing!! I had a wonderful time with the volunteers there😊The work was good, tasks were well planed and explained and overall everything was good manageable !
If there were any questions or problems, Alessia, our manager, took the time to answer and solve the problem! I’m so happy that I had the opportunity to work here! 😊

I really enjoyed staying at the hostel. You share a room with 10 other people, but once you get to know everyone, it feels like a shared apartment.
Allessia (the manager) really pays attention to your needs, she asks if you have any requests regarding work etc.
It was my first volunteer experience and i loved working here. It was a good start because it was easy to connect with others and the tasks weren’t difficult.
I got to meet some really nice people here and I’m grateful for that. I can only recommend it, you’ll love it.

I am so incredibly glad I chose Columbus Rooftop Hostel as a volunteering experience!! It was my second experience ever and honestly one of the best times I've ever had. I met so many incredible people; everybody was very outgoing and kind :) There were a lot of volunteers and after just a couple of days we somehow felt like a family. I had the social volunteer position and a lot of freedom in how to fulfill my tasks. Therefore, I was able to incorporate the things I love into my schedule :) Thank you everybody for creating such a special place 🫶 I don't think I'll ever forget Columbus 🫶
