Toto and the his Family are so accommodating and they are so lovely. The Meals are 10/10 The work is very rewarding but is very physical, I loved working in the garden and planting the bamboo The accommodation is very nice, the rooms are a good size and have En-suits Would really recommend if you are up for some farming and gardening 10/10

The experience at the project farm is a really good way to learn about sustainability and farming, I learned a lot about bamboo and other tropical plants, the work is really chill and always with safety equipment. The ospitally I received is unmatched, from Toto to Mama Gloria and Papa Rick I always felt like part of the family, a big compliment to Mama Gloria for the commitment to cook always really good food for us ; the accomodation is nice with perfect bed, perfect bathroom and also hot water. The experience at the farm taught me a lot and I made good friends, I would definitely do it again

I had a good time during my short stay at the project, and gained a lot of new experiences. Escalantera is a small village located in a stunning environment. Toto and his family welcomed me into their home, they were friendly and accommodating. If you would like to experience what the countryside of the Philippines is like, learn about bamboo cultivation and processing, or if you enjoy spending your afternoon at the beach (after work or during the weekend) I would highly recommend volunteering at the project.

We had a truly wonderful time at Toto's house. We had the opportunity to learn so much about bamboo management & farming, to meet and interact with Escalantera's inhabitants and to meet with amazing fellow volunteers. I would 100% recommend staying at Toto's ! ( Mama Gloria and Papa Rick were also real angels to us 🙏)

We had a great time at Toto's. The project we have to help with is very interesting. We learned so much about bamboo! And overall, Toto and his family are amazing. We laughed a lot, and enjoyed every moment with his family. We also loved Mama Gloria's cooking. Overall, this farm experience was great, we can only recommend it. I really enjoyed my stay at the project. Sadly I only had the time to stay for one week otherwise I would have definitely considered staying longer. The hours weren't too less or too much and the work was very various as there are many things that need to be done at the farm. Therefore I learned new things for example using power tools. I also enjoyed the time off as there is a lot to explore around the farm and it's easy to get around with busses or jeepneys. Another good thing was that I met great people!

From learning and practicing eco farming, permaculture, community immersion and more, I would go as far to say that this was a transformative experience for me. The host is knowledgeable as well as inspirational in his efforts to build for the future. I also appreciate the hosts holistic approach that is taken into consideration for the group as well as individual volunteers. Toto's family and supporting staff are hospitable and genuine. Coming from Filipino ancestry, the farm feels very much like a home for me. Overall, I enjoyed my experience and look forward to visiting again.

Overwhelmed at the farm and I missed the opportunity to properly leave a review. In my defense, Makana extended his stay and this comment is 1 week after his departure 😉.

His work ethic and positive attitude made working so much more pleasurable. Makana greatly contributed to the progress of algersan's farms' many projects.

It was a delight to skip the small talk and dive deep into where we were in our journey of self-actualization. Add the hilarious anecdotes and you can understand why he is missed.

I highly recommend hosting Makana if you want a hard worker who thinks about the team and can hold space for discussions that aren't always comfortable but are always meaningful.

Toto and his family made me feel very welcome on their farm, at the end I would even say we became good friends. Toto made sure we were taken care of and created a safe working environment. the project and the area they are located in are truely gorgeous. The work was not too much and we got a lot of free time in which Toto would take us on different tours around town. Toto's mom, Gloria, would make sure I was well fed and she was so kind to make extra vegetarian food just for me:) During my stay we also got involved in the happenings of the local school which I enjoyed.

The farm is located in the mountains at an altitude of 200 meters, the temperature is comfortable. In the rainy season, be prepared for mosquitoes and dirty work. We could have helped Toto much more. Sometimes we had to wait and make joint decisions as we went along. But I was one of the first volunteers here, so I am sure Toto will correct this nuance. I liked the local mangoes, bananas and coconuts. Magnificent views of the sea, mountains and sunset. Special thanks to Mama Gloria for cooking the most delicious Filipino food. The atmosphere here is friendly, I was received like an old friend.

Volunteering at the project farm was an immersive experience Toto was an excellent host, providing protective gear for work and ensuring the daily tasks were manageable. He is very knowledgeable, and I learnt quite a lot about general planting and building maintenance Besides farm activities, we socialized with locals, toured the neighbouring town, and explored its history and cuisine During my stay, I was provided with free meals. Toto's mom cooked amazing home-cooked dishes that were a delightful culinary adventure. The hospitality, local interactions, and learning opportunities 👌🏾
