I had an amazing experience volunteering at this bamboo farm ! Yes, the work can be physically demanding, but with only 5.5 to 6 hours of work per day, it's absolutely reasonable. Plus, the afternoons are free to relax, explore, or just enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Mama Gloria's cooking is simply delicious ! This place is perfect for anyone wanting to learn about bamboo construction and farming. Working alongside Toto was a real pleasure; he is both passionate and hilarious :) this type of physical work before, it can be a challenge, but Toto is always there to guide and support you.

My time at the farm was amazing, you learn so much about bamboos, how to work with them and how to build with them, toto does everything he can so that the farm will feel like home and your stay will be the best. from mama Gloria's meals and papa Rick's stories you feel like family right away, toto teaches you very thoroughly and carefully about every tool and how to use it, so don't worry if you have no previous experience. 10/10 would come again

We felt at home as soon as we arrived at the farm. Toto and his family were very welcoming and accommodating. As written in de description, the job in the bamboo farm is very physical and a bit difficult. But Toto always makes sure to give us plenty of break to drink water and cool down. We never felt pressure to perform more and safety was always put first. We highly recommand, the experience with the locals was interesting and instructive, the food was better than what we expect and working on a green project was fulfilling. Thank you Toto

I spent two weeks at the project Farm, and it was both challenging and rewarding. One of the key tasks was harvesting bamboo culms. While hard work, seeing the bamboo put to use in the farm's eco-friendly projects made it all worthwhile. I was also fortunate to spend time at the nearby elementary school, where I got to interact with the children and learn more about the culture. It was a truly enriching experience. If you're looking to contribute to sustainability while experiencing Filipino culture, I highly recommend this farm.

We were two volunteers and took part in lots of different tasks ranging from cutting bamboo branches and comes, to building a small structure using the splitted bamboo slats. Overall, I'd highly recommend this experience. Toto, Rick and Gloria are really great people who you'll get to know, and they're very welcoming. In addition to work and life at the project, I loved being able to make contact with the village schools and share with them some sporting and musical moments that I'll never forget.

I stayed for two weeks at the project and the work itself was sometimes exhausting and challenging but it was so worth to see the progress we were able to make in just a few hours! We built the very first bamboo dome and learnt a lot about clump management.Toto always made sure that every task was safely explained and well understood before we started. He reacted very open and positive to any upcoming critics or problems and always looked out for a solution everybody was fine with.I'm gonna miss my time(and Papa Rick's puppies)a lot and also Mama Gloria's great cooking skills-it was amazing!!

My time at the project was amazing! It was my first volunteering experience & I enjoyed every minute of it. Toto was really nice & communicated everything very well. He showed me around the village & introduced me to the local culture. I learned a lot about the nature of the area, especially about bamboo. The hours sawing & lopping at the bamboo clomps were pretty exhausting, but also really rewarding. Mama Gloria was a real gem! She was so accommodating & went out of her way to cook vegetarian meals for me! All in all: 10/10 recommend, if you don't mind some hard physical labor. I'll be back!

Before the volunteering experience, the host was warm and fun, which motivated us to come. Unfortunately, once on-site,his tone and attitude changed drastically. The work was hard, as expected, but the lack of respect and consideration made the stay difficult. We are sorry but we wouldn't recommend this experience, but we thank the host and his parents for welcoming us into their home.

This is a fair review. The time that Lea & Pedro were at algersan's was extra challenging. I explained this to them before and during their stay. Note: Pedro is a great worker but started speaking English only 6 months earlier. It took extra energy & bandwidth to communicate/instruct. Lea was great at translating.
I appreciate the feedback, understand that I'm human, and continue to work on being my best.

For me, the best elements of this role were the environment and awesome natural beauty of the region, the warmth and hospitality of the family and local people, and the highly physical nature of the work required. It wasn't perfect, but I respect the willingness of Toto to confront, discuss & resolve to his best ability any issues, regardless of complexity. Any volunteers should be prepared for early starts, long & hot hours, and be flexible and open-minded. You are rewarded with Mama G's DELICIOUS (!!!) food, Papa Rick's brilliant stories, and enough free time to explore Iloilo 👍🏽 enjoy it!

The experience at the farm was all around amazing. The work on the bamboo farm was very physical but rewarding and fun !! Toto was understanding and caring with everyone's need and wants. This made it feel like a home. Moma Gloria's cooking was very tasty and all her food is fresh !! She cooks from her heart and love for sharing her food. The accommodation was really good the beds were very comfortable and all the rooms had their own bathroom. I would recommend this to anyone that is looking to learn about bamboo and have a lovely family and home looking after you :)
