First I have to say that the people at this lodge are very kind and open-hearted. Unfortunately, the accommodation is very run-down and dirty. The daily working hours are fine, but you are left very alone and there is little sense of togetherness. The enjoyment of work is also lacking. I like the mix of different cultures among the volunteers, but it is important to pay more attention to making it harmonious. Nevertheless, I am thankful for every experience.

Hello. We are also thankful for the help and trying to keep it up with your motivation. Based on the time you were here, being alone was your option, because would either say that you already know how to do something or get annoyed when one of the manager was supervising. On the 4th day of work you didn’t come in time and had to be woken up by one of the managers because you came back at 4am from partying, besides this, you, knowing that you had to work in the morning and confirming that you were working in the morning, decided to excuse yourself with the manager in turn saying that the other volunteer had to work but she didn’t wake up so you decided to take her shift (lie to the manager and use your friend as an excuse) and the other volunteer had 0 motivation to work because she was hungover . The day you two were off for being Sick you were coming back from town at 1am the night before, for granted is known that you were backing up your friend even while working, We do recognize that in fact you were very sick but your friend was perfectly fine the day before and perfectly fine the next day; you mentioned on your last day that you baked a lot in the kitchen but we never specifically said YOU do it, we said “we need to do this” and you were taking the task by your own because the other volunteer didn’t want to do it or didn’t like to do it or you would come during her shift and help her do stuff (which is fine) but complaining about how much you have worked after you decided not to split the tasks with your friend is not valid. The agreement is to work 4 hours a day and have a day off, most of the time you were allowed to leave earlier, only a few times you were asked to work the 4 hours and you were clearly annoyed also you two gave us conditions like wanting to work together in one shift, we agreed on that, you said you don’t like painting, we took it off your tasks.
On the last day you worked two hours out of the four, you were asked to sand one section of the social space, something that between two people could’ve been done in one hour, one of you mentioned that you won’t do it, said that you only had two hours of sleep and you were tired (Coming back at 4:30am the night before). Got angry for being asked to do this and compared this situation to two last volunteers who didn’t work on their last day (you agreed to work until your last day) and mentioned that you won’t do a task that another volunteer can do.

We always want to ensure that everybody is comfortable and social, we accept the people who apply that seem to have good experience on specific tasks or people that seems to have willingness on learning new things, if there’s any problem within the volunteers we have to know what happens to take decisions, and you already didn’t like a new volunteer 2 hours after he arrived, is not a problem if you don’t like somebody for any reason as long as there is respect between the volunteers and if there is not, then we ask the ones causing problems to leave, but we can’t tell somebody to leave 2 hours after they arrived .

During this time, noticing that you weren’t happy and none of you said what was going on, one of the managers asked about it to make your experience better and we tried to do our best.

The Managers were very nice and tried to make our stay comfortable, but the accommodation was horrible. The mattresses and the fridge were moldy, the walls and the ceiling did not connect, so every animal could get inside. Because of these conditions, we decided to leave earlier, but we gave the host a week notice and after that, we were treated very poorly, which made the rest of our stay uncomfortable, e.g. I was accused of faking an illness to get a day off. They also take everyone, who applies, which makes it difficult to harmonize with erveryone, due to different lifestyles.

Hello. There was no poorly treatment after you decided to leave earlier, simply the whole time you were here didn’t want to work at all, no motivation and no willingness, basically acting like you were extremely forced to do something (including watering plants) or would complain about other tasks to finally mention that it wasn’t what you agreed on when you applied even tho it was advised on our message when we approved your application. On the 4th day of work one of you didn’t come in time and had to be woken up by one of the managers because you came back at 4am from partying and on your shift you had 0 motivation because you were hungover (5pm) 13 hours after you came back from partying. The day you two were off for being Sick you were coming back from town at 1am the night before, (we recognize that in fact one of you was super sick, clearly visible that this person was not capable of being around) this after being late for being hungover. You also complained that one of the managers made you clean the kitchen’s shelfs (it’s in our conditions to clean).

Considering the other times you were allowed to leave before you even completed 4 hours

The actual effect of Worldpackers is that volunteering abroad prepares you for the future, you learn new skills and open your mind to the world, different cultures and experiences.

The lodge is a great place to experience nature and the staff were all very friendly. It is quite far from town and the buses can be unreliable because of the road so prepare ahead of time and bring food with you because a taxi ride costs $10-15 each way to town. I was told most of the work would be in the kitchen but because there weren't many guests it was mainly painting. Accommodations are basic but I had my own room the whole stay which was so nice.

My experience at the lodge was idyllic and beautiful. The lodge is in a stunning location, providing the relaxation I needed. All work tasks were reasonable, and management effectively explained kitchen cleaning and cooking. It was a comfortable environment where curiosity was welcomed. However, the living conditions could improve; I arrived to find mold on the fans and pillows. Additionally, more effort could be made to encourage social interactions among volunteers, as working different hours often made it challenging to connect with fellow volunteers.
