My experience at the lodge was quite pleasant. They kept to the schedule, the tasks were not too heavy and I worked with very nice people. Iraina was the first one I met, she is the queen of the kitchen, she is the best at organizing and teaching. Rulo is cool, loyal, calm, fun, a friend for parties and work. Woody and Danielle are the owners and a nice couple. Woody has the best stories, the best adventures and Danielle is very energetic and she'll make sure you feel good. My only recommendation is to improve the roof of the rooms since sometimes there was bat poop on the beds.

The lodge is a really nice Hotel on Isla Cólon, in the Bocas del Toro Archipelago. The work hours are nice and the managers and owners you will work with are really friendly. A thing to keep in mind is that the Hotel is a bit outside of the town. This at least in my case led to often staying in close vicinity to the hotel which wasn't a problem because there is a nice beach with quite strong waves directly at the hotel and the wifi connection was fast and somewhat stable.

The best place to connect with yourself, you learn a lot, the constant linguistic environment improves the language you want to learn. I appreciate everyone a lot, I felt at home, between laughter and work it was great. It's definitely a surprising place because of the animals and views it has. The river bird is always hungry so keep an eye on it haha.

The whole team, as well as the owners (old and new ones) are like a heartwarming big family you can get integrated to. Work was also very much fun for me. You will probably help in the kitchen, either in a breakfast shift or at dinner. The only thing you could criticize ist the accomodation right now. For me it was no big problem, but still it is a bit run down. At the same time, the new owners want to fix it and make the stay even more enjoyable than anyway. So, this is a huge recommendation for this place. You can easily be here four weeks or more and enjoy every single day of your stay❤

I had a great month volunteering here! The place is paradise, the nature is incredible, and the staff is lovely, welcoming, and always ready to help. However, the volunteer housing is rustic and humid (mold on clothes), the kitchen is outdated, and the hotel is far from town (a $20/30 taxi is needed for groceries). Still, the atmosphere, the people, and the energy of the place made this experience unforgettable!

I really enjoyed my Time at the lodge. Woody, the owner, really takes time to explain things and makes sure you not just do something, you learn from it. If you Show interest to anything, everybody from the lodge loves to help and explain :) It is the Perfect Place to get to know yourself better, and reconnect with nature. Nothing is wasted here. You should really take some time to Talk with Rulo, one of the managers, he will show you how to live the island life. Just don't expect too much of the accommodation. Remember: its free. Thanks again for this opportunity! :)

El the lodge is such a beautiful place. It is a very quiet and relaxing place. The staff is very nice (thank you Rulo, Irina, Woody and Danielle). The work is very cool and not difficult, it's a job with very good vibes, I loved it. The only thing is the volunteer area, it may need more attention and I think the bathroom and kitchen can be improved. But I definitly recommed this position.

Erin and Daniel are two honest collaborators, they would complete their hours no matter what, so we didn’t have to supervise them. They would do the tasks they were asked to do. Quiet people that don’t drink or party, so they’ll be in time with a lot of energy. Thank you for your help around here!

This experience was the perfect balance of work and play. The managers are awesome and make work fun we learned so many recipes and left feeling like we'd made an impact. The work was light and you still have plenty of time to be a traveller, shifts were planned ahead so you can make plans easily. The home you stay in is fully equipped with everything you need, there's plenty of rooms in the house so you meet other volunteers so it's also a very social experience. The location of the hotel is all about the views !! It's a bit far from town but it means you get peace and quiet.
