First I wanted to stay three weeks at the olive farm but I actually left after one week. I enjoyed cutting the grass and being outside but you also need to clean and prepare the guesthouse, which was not as i imagined it. The communication was poor and i felt kinda thrown in at the deep end. Guesthouse and next konbini are kinda far away. The house were you sleep could also be more clean. So if you look for smth just to chill and enjoy nature it's fine. The food was also very good and okisan was an interesting host. But in general the place was not what i was looking for, but that's okay.

My experience at the farm was fine. I wasn't there during the best season, so there weren't many volunteers (around 2-3). Also, not everyone worked on the same tasks, so I was alone most of the time. There's nothing much in the area, so on my day off, I had to walk 40 minutes to the bus stop to get to the city. I wouldn't recommend this place for solo travelers or for people who like to explore and travel around, but maybe it was just because of the season, because when we finished work, it was already dark outside. The place is beautiful, Oki-san is a nice person, and the food is great.

Thank you for coming, you had better come during the harvest season in October, so many volunteers gather and enjoy picking olives.See you next chance.

You couldn't wish for a better host than oki san, he is kind, generous and tells you the funniest stories. He varies the work you do, so you rarely have the same day twice, we were between working on the farm, pruning the olive trees, cutting back branches on the hillside, picking out weeds and making a stone path. As well as working at the guesthouse, cleaning, preparing for the next day. Then sometimes we'd help out in the kitchen, serving the guests dinner and helping out with the meals. Oki san is a wonderful cook you'll never be hungry while staying with him. Everything's a pleasure.

My experience was out of the harvesting season. About the work, I helped in three areas. One was in the olive farm mostly pruning. Kirisan, one of the employees in the farm, guide you and teach you basic things. It's not difficult. I have no experience before in gardening and could do it. Kirisan is very nice, he would have no problems in showing you as many times as you need it. The other area, was cleaning in the Okisan's guesthouse. Also pretty basic and easy.

Oki Olive offers a rich countryside experience where you'll learn about Japanese olive oil production, culture, and cuisine. Oki-san is a creative and generous host, always happy to share cultural insights over meals, which he cooks exceptionally well! The work: Pruning trees or assisting with guesthouse tasks, is enjoyable and manageable with decent fitness. Two days off per week were available during my December stay. Tips: Bring an international driver's license for easier transport, consider a mobile data plan, and ask Oki-san any questions—he's very approachable and helpful!

Volunteering at the farm during the Harvest (around October) means long hours picking olives, the work is not too hard and depending on your fellow volunteers it can be a fun experience. There has been a trained Japanese chef here preparing lunch and dinner, the food has been great. I learnt new skills during my time here, experienced a lot and have met a bunch of amazing people. I can't speak for volunteering outside of the harvest season, but I would recommend coming here if you enjoy meeting new people and experiencing different cultures. I'm grateful that I came here.

Oki Olives is an amazing volunteer experience! Oki-San is a very kind and generous man, and also a very skilled chef. It was a pleasure to share meals and conversations with him and any other volunteers after a day of work. On the farm, the work is honest and for me was very enjoyable. There are many skills you can learn so no two days look the same. I recommend to bring appropriate farm wear (shoes & clothes) and be open to practicing Japanese. One day, I hope to volunteer here again for a harvest season. Until then, thanks for everything Oki-San & team!

I would 100% recommend this. Takamatsu is a really pretty place, and the farm has fun work. The work can be tiring sometimes because of the sun but everyday you get really really good food and great conversations. The whole experience was really warm and wholesome and can't wait to see Oki-san again. Also, it was so good to meet and spend time with Megu-san althought it was for a small duration. Thank you Kirin-san and Kimura-san for being patient ant teaching stuff
