Learn How Coffee is Made in an Old Coffee Plantation

The host was a beautiful place to get away from busy city and connect with nature and locals from the area! The managers, workers, and owners take every effort to make you feel special as a volunteer. There are a few opportunities to go into town and also go on nature adventures. They also feed u really good! This was my first Worldpackers experience & I think it's a wonderful one to start off with as the staff is very organized and professional! Two pieces of advice: be prepared for most of your work to be a celebrity to the locals and buy toilet paper before heading to the plantation!

This was a great experience! I had a really good time getting to know everyone in the plantation, they all treated us as part of a family. Also, I got to learn a lot about how they run the café along with the several activities available at the plantation. The amount of hours were fair and the food received was delicious. Totally recommend.

Cristian and Miranda, a couple from Mexico, were great volunteers at De Karanganjar Koffieplantage. They worked hard, got along very well with other volunteers, and made a positive impact. Their friendly and cooperative attitude was a big plus. I highly recommend them for any future projects!

It's definitely one of the best volunteering experiences ever. I had an amazing time with them and I would love to come back one day. Everyone at the plantation is very welcoming and you can feel like a part of their family. The tasks are easy and very interesting as you do different activities everyday. We went out to the city together, enjoyed local food, learned about the culture. Truly amazing experience! I loved it and can't wait to come back one day!

"Happy to have your presence here, Weronika!

It's like a reminder of my "European home," Poland, full of memories.

Looking forward to our funny video, hopefully it will attract a lot of viewers! Thank you for your help while you were here! Hopefully we can meet again in your beautiful city, Krakow!

P.S. I just regret that I only found out that you're a veterinarian on the last day. Why didn't you say so from the beginning... we have horses, deer, birds, snakes, and crocodiles that need special attention..."

I had a really amazing time volunteering with them. The volunteering schedule is mutually agreed upon and handed over to everyone beforehand. All the tasks are really thoughtful and socially engaging, and helped me get grounded and more in sync with the environment of the place. The hosts are amazing and really nice, and made sure I lived as comfortably as possible during my time there. We celebrated local tradition together, went out for local food together, went to popular scenic destination together, apart from the volunteering experience.

Shivam!

I am extremely grateful for the unique experience of celebrating Diwali. It was truly memorable!

Thank you also for being a friend to my child, Aga. He will definitely miss you.

Hopefully, we can meet again in the incredible land of India, and don't forget to sing "Koil Mili Gaya"... if necessary, bring the original Kajol along... lol.

I can feel myself tearing up while writing this review because this was one of the most amazing experiences ever. This was my first volunteering experience and I realised that volunteering is a very “up and down” journey. You find out not only about your surroundings but also yourself. I love coffee and this opportunity only increased that love for me. The people of Indonesia and this property are absolutely brilliant. I still cannot believe the hospitality I received. I can keep going on and on. But all I'll say is. Thank you so much for everything. Never goodbye. Till next time.

Mehek!

One of the most special days of this year was enjoying the Indian-style chicken curry at our plantation. I know the seasoning wasn't complete, but I truly enjoyed it.

I also want to say that I enjoyed our discussions about culture, religion, and other silly things. I'm glad to have encountered a young Indian who is open-minded and willing to engage in self-criticism for a better life.

Hopefully, we can meet again in the incredible land of India!

Hola, Griselda Mercedes!

You are one of the highlights we have this year. Thank you for being a great ambassador in promoting De Karanganjar and Blitar.

Thank you for 'messing up' the Javanese-Dutch theme here and turning it into a Latino theme. Sometimes dancing to Latin music is also fun!

I will miss our discussions that started with cultural, historical, and political topics, and became more philosophical as we went along. Hahaha...

If you have found the meaning of life, please share it with me, will ya ;)

I hope we can meet again in front of the majestic Tenochtitlan, chatting while enjoying tacos and accompanied by a cute tecolote.

I've spent three weeks here and it was amazing! The work was not difficult, mainly housekeeping, maintaining the grounds and the seedlings of coffee, serving customers at the coffee shop and teaching English. I was lucky to be here during several events and interact with a lot of locals. The owner and the staff are extremely friendly and made me feel so welcome, both in day-to-day life and on some evenings when we went out to the city together and discussed life in different countries and tried local foods. I learned so much about Indonesian culture and obviously about the coffee. Amazing!

Hello Scientist!

You and the gang made those weeks so enjoyable!

Thank you for being good conversation companions, being great ambassadors for De Karanganjar and Blitar, and of course, being a cool science teacher for my child. I will definitely miss our meaningful conversations.

Thank you for the cool Lithuanian name, and hopefully, we can meet again in your seemingly beautiful country.

P.S.: No afraid of ghosts anymore, remember you're a scientist!

By far one of the best volunteering experiences I had, what a host! Wima just don't receive you at the farm with a bed to sleep, is a TRUE cultural experience, welcoming with your anthem played on the piano, trying amazing local foods, city tour experience and great talks about art and culture! The accomodation is great and comfortble. The work is easy and chill. Almost everyone in the farm speaks good english, so you'll get the opportunity to really connect and learn about Indonesia history, art and traditions. Note&Check, before come: lots of cockroaches here and food is limited in the fridg

Isabelle! The not-so-Brazilian because you don't like football, hahaha!

Your camera is magic; finally, we can have some great photos. Thank you for helping us at the DeKa Voice singing competition with your photos, and you were patient enough to name each and every one of them. I'm sure thanks to your photos, the student participants won't easily forget the event.

See you again, hopefully in Brazil. Oh, one more thing, don't book the tickets too close together, just once in Blitar is enough, hahaha.

I really enjoyed my time on the host plantation! There were a lot of events during my stay so it was really nice to see the local culture and how involved everyone is in the community! It was great to have Alfi there to help the volunteers, and Wima and his family were so kind and generous!! The work was nice and easy, a lot of the time we'd work for 2 hours then have a break for a few hours before working again. Sadly I wasn't lucky enjoy to see the roasting process but some others went to the factory at the right time and got to watch, definitely check often if you want to watch!!!

Hi Brianna!

Thank you so much for helping improve the English language skills of the employees, as well as correcting English writings on the website and other things.

I've watched the Independence Day ceremony videos and fun games with the kids multiple times, and I always laugh whenever I see you helplessly being tackled by the kids with a big grin on your face!

Oh, and thank you for the delicious pumpkin soup as well. It was my first time trying something like that.

See you on another occasion. Hopefully in Canada!

I didn't feel like leaving at the end and would have extended if I could. The rooms accommodate everything: free laundry, wifi, privacy, space and your own bathroom. If you need anything they will try to provide it asap. I got to learn about coffee brewing, processing and farming. Once every day I could make my own coffee and practice latte art, thanks to everyone at the café for the help! :D I also experienced 5 events in 2 weeks, very lucky. Thanks to Wima, Alfie, Abry, Sintia, Dio, Fino, Dea, Aga and everyone for an incredible experience and warm memories. I hope to be back at some point.

Hello Mhdawi Sisters!

I just wanted to say that we are delighted to have you here. You're so lovely, hardworking, and polite... even too polite, hahaha!

Thank you for the delicious German dishes: nudelsalat and the like. And congratulations on experiencing three major events at once: Independence Day celebration, Heirloom Cleansing Ritual, and the unforgettable Mount Kelud Expedition.

May all of it become beautiful memories, so that you will want to come back here.

See you again, Hanin and Isabel!
