It will be hard to top my stay at the host plantation for my future volunteering experiences. Everyone was so welcoming and kind, it felt like you were part of one big family. Mr Wima took us around to eat local food and visit some famous places in Blitar, I am so grateful to have been able to discover local culture like that. The work itself was very pleasant, during the rainy season it's mostly working at the cafe. Delicious meals were provided during work days.

I had the very best time at the host koffieplantation! The people feel like family and I can't wait to hopefully come back one day. I made friends with locals as well as other volunteers, who I'm still travelling with today. The tasks were fun and I learned a lot about coffee and the indonesian culture. I would highly recommend this place to anyone (volunteering or not), because of the peaceful environment and beautiful cafe, plantation and area.

I had an amazing 2 weeks at De Karagangnar. Everyone is so kind, friendly and helpful, and make you feel at home. The farm is a beautiful, relaxed & easy-going environment. Daily jobs are usually ~2hrs cleaning/coffee task in the morning, long lunch break, ~3hrs in cafe in the afternoon, with some events & social media too, so tasks are varied and interesting. You talk to many locals, learning about local culture/history which is super interesting. If I had one wish, it would be to learn more deeply about coffee production, but I totally understand its not the season. Overall, amazing!

This is my first volunteering experience and wow it was amazing. The host and staff all make you feel at home. They are super welcoming and inclusive. It truly feels like you are part of their family. They will occasionally bring you out for dinner or have a family home cooked meal. The property is really nice and much larger than expected. There is a beautiful farm field a short walk away with great views. The work is minimal and honestly was just fun to help out in the cafe. Mainly serving food and drinks to customers. I would highly recommend this place!!

Everyone here was so kind and welcoming! The tasks were not difficult and varied from day to day. I did things such as working in the cafe, sweeping, picking and sorting coffee cherries, and promotion. The room was comfortable and had a little patio where you could have dinner or coffee in the mornings. Overall, would definitely recommend!

I cherish many memories that were created during my one month stay at the host. The people working in the plantation are so kind. A special place in my heart has now become theirs. Mr Wima, the owner of the plantation, spent lots of time with us, he's very involved with volunteers, took us to a mosque, invited us over for dinner a bunch of times, it was amazing. Working hours were from 8am-1pm mostly, longer on weekends or when there were events. The work itself is very chill, plenty of time to get to know the local coworkers as well. So... What are you waiting for? Just do it ;)

A lifetime memory! Very grateful to mister Wima for making all of this happen! The team at the host is full of truly amazing people who will welcome you with open arms, they filled my days with laughter and joy and gave me so many beautiful memories; that month went super fast and it was hard saying bye! While I was there I joined special tours and saw almost the entire behind the scenes of what makes a good cup of coffee so for those eager to learn more about it this is the place. The task won't be hard and the food given to volunteers is delicious! Terima kasih, see you next time!

Hey Matthew!

Thanks for being part of De Karanganjar, and for being a great friend to my son, Aga.

I've really enjoyed our discussions, and of course, the cool podcasts about the history of the relationship between Indonesia and South Africa.

If I ever make it to South Africa, make sure you've got time to be my safari tour guide haha.

Great volunteering experience in the heart of Java. the host made us feel part of the family from day 1 with their generosity and authenticity. Tasks are diversified and it is great to learn the process of transforming a coffee grain into a delicious drink. Meeting the smiley locals made us feel very special. Highly recommended
