Me encanto! 🤍

The guest house was such a lovely hostel, extremely clean and well-equipped in terms of facilities. Everyone was really respectful :) Also, the location is great next to the main station + e-bikes provided for free! It wasn't the most social experience, as I don't speak Japanese (I think this applies everywhere in Japan) and cleaning is kinda meticulous and independent. I liked the clear rules though - when it becomes a routine, it's doable. Also, it's worth noting that Hiroshima isn't that big for exploring, but two weeks was fine (many sights are open 9am-5pm). Recommending 💯

I really enjoyed volunteering at the guest house! The tasks you'll be doing are easy to understand. You will work from 11:00 to 15:00, and the number of beds to make depends on the day, then you have to clean the common areas. As it was my first time, some days felt harder than others, however the staff were always there to help! When you've finished, you can now explore the amazing city of Hiroshima, and I loved the electric bikes they provide. Also met fabulous volunteers, and we went to visit and eat together many times. The place is overall very clean. Thank you the guest house & my friends!

The guest house was such a lovely place to work. Every single person I worked with was so kind to me the entirety of my stay. I found the work itself to be pretty easy and the hours are very well respected. The rooms are super clean and have aircon 24/7, and you have your own private pod in one of the hostel rooms. It's a very relaxed and calm atmosphere overall. The location is so good as it is only a street away from Hiroshima station. There's also electric bicycles which are available (if guests arnt using them) and can get you into the city centre in 10 mins. I will definitely be back☺️

Once again, my experience at Akicafé was wonderful. It was my second time volunteering here, and I am glad I came back. The job isn't the easiest but the amount of work is absolutely acceptable and grants you plenty of free time. Fumi-San and Ryoko-San were super nice as always. The free access to bicycles makes it even easier to get anywhere in the city and grants a full sense of independence. The hostel is cozy and clean so you can easily feel at home. They also provide free rice and the kitchen is great :)

PLACE the guest house was my first volunteering experience, I was worried I would find a shared space disgusting but the place is SUPER clean and the bed comfortable. There isn't much to do in Hiroshima so take that into account when deciding the length of your stay. WORK I really liked the job! You can work in housekeeping (4h/day (11h-15h) 5 days/week), reception (7h/day (15h-22h) 3 days/week) or both; I wasn't strong enough for housekeeping so I worked in reception.

I had such a good time at Akai Cafe Inn - the other staff are lovely, the hours are chill (11-3pm for cleaning) and the hostel is so nice. You stay in a bunk bed but it has a curtain and is nice and cosy. It's in a great location - right next to the train station. 10/10!
