We loved having Moa here as a volunteer. We will miss her in the team! She was there for our guests, fulfilled all the tasks we gave her and always helped when needed. We are happy to recommend her as a reliable volunteer.

The lodge really is a magical place! In the middle of nature, you have plenty of time to unwind and find yourself again. Pia is an incredibly great employer. All the volunteers who were there when I was there were totally welcoming such sweethearts. I worked in the kitchen and therefore had a lot of contact with the locals from Guatemala. I had to get used to it at the beginning, as my Spanish skills were weak and the women were more cheeky than welcoming. However, once you had won them over, it was really pleasant and fun to work with them. The work-life balance is fair. Big recommendation!

You are immersed in nature, it's truly a raw experience, getting to know the locals really makes this trip unique. The staff really make it though, living side by side in the middle of nowhere, you quite easily become a little family. :) Pia the owner has a great sense of humor, and is involved with the place everyday. The breakfast is unmatched, we looked forward to waking up everyday for this. Semuc is beautiful an we highly recommend check this place out!

The lodge became my home away from home. A very welcoming place with a laid-back lifestyle. I loved getting to know other volunteers and locals alike, plus all the animals who share the property. The diversity and autonomy of my role was nice, from teaching yoga, to cooking vegan treats and taking guests in chocolate tours. Very fair hours and exchange for food / accomodation, with plenty of time off. Would recommend this to anyone who likes relaxing in nature, a down to earth experience and being apart of a wonderful community.

It was an amazing experience, you open yourself to locals and travelers from around the world at the same time, it is nice playing games with the team while having a drink or hanging in the hamacas, you can always go to the river to refresh yourself and you are surrounded by the love of the dogs and Domingo the cat 🫶🏻 Be prepared for a Jungle experience literally 🌴 The working hours are always very well distributed among the volunteers 👌🏼

My experience at the lodge was amazing! The people, place, and surrounding nature are all beautiful. The other volunteers made my time here so special. The shifts are fun and there is a lot of free time to relax, enjoy nature, swim in the river, play card games, and have water gun fights. the lodge is a bit away from town but it's easy to get to town by Tuktuk or hitchhiking if you need anything or want to get a drink at other hostels.

We had an incredible experience at the lodge. The work is generally easy and being in the middle of the jungle means beautiful views. Connecting with the local Mayan people and creating friendships with them despite the language barrier was amazing... we even learned some Qʼeqchiʼ phrases. The staff and other volunteers were all lovely, caring people that we had a lot of laughs with. The general atmosphere of the lodge is 10/10. Only thing to keep in mind is how secluded you are out there in the jungle; just make sure you are prepared to live a bit off-grid without luxuries
