We had a wonderful time volunteering at the lodge very close to Semuc Champey! The owner, Pia, is warm and welcoming, and I'm very grateful to her for making our stay so beautiful. The working hours were exactly as described fair, light work, with plenty of time to enjoy the surroundings. The food was absolutely delicious, and we always felt respected and cared for. I definitely recommend volunteering here if you want a peaceful and rewarding experience in the Guatemalan jungle!

The lodge is an amazing place to volunteer at if you are looking to submerge yourself in nature. There are some beautiful hikes you can take yourself on and the surrounding jungle is perfect for exploring. The food is delicious and plentiful and there is an opportunity to work alongside the local mayan women which was a truly unique experience. The team who work at the lodge are friendly and chilled and the dogs are just gorgeous.

I've stayed in the lodge as a cooking volunteer for one month. My working schedule was as described, so I had 3 days off and then work for 4 days in row. It was a big advantage for me to speak spanish so that I could communicate easily with the kitchen staff. You definitely need to know how to cook, because you are coming up with the menu of the family style dinners and you will lead the kitchen. There is always one woman working with you, so you are never alone, but it is a lot of work with cleaning the dishes by hand and making dinner in busy season for 30+ people. I def learned a lot.

I honestly did love it here, definitely fully immersed in nature which has its ups and downs. The high points would be the tours that you can go on and meeting locals, one big low point was the mould that is in the dorm room that does eventually get to your clothes and bags. All volunteers have had the same problem and you can clean everything repeatedly but unfortunately the mould is inescapable I do wish I had known that to better prepare myself. Other than that i would recommend this experience as the actual hotel was really nice and the food they give you is amazing.

The lodge is a beautiful spot surrounded by the stunning nature of Semuc Champey, offering a peaceful atmosphere to connect with nature. I had a great time there, meeting wonderful people. However, if you're looking for a project focused on sustainability and social change, it might not meet those expectations, as it seems to operate more like a traditional hotel. Also the volunteer agreement specifies 30hrs per week, but the workload can sometimes exceed that (37hrs) if there are not enough volunteers. Female travelers should also be aware that some local workers may catcall on a daily basis.

The lodge is set in a beautiful tropical forest, is a special place to get close to nature and meet international travelers. The weather varied quite a bit when I was there so it's nice to bring layers to be prepared but when the sun shone the place really lit up and a walk down to the river is a must. My time there was made really great with the other volunteers as we played games, hung out by the fire and walked to other nearby hostels. If you are staying at the lodge you will have a lot of downtime.

I'm so grateful I got to volunteer at the lodge! The people are amazing, the work is easy, and the nature is unbelievable. Be prepared for LOTS of insects, but it's def worth it and I'm a much braver person now. The Mayan women who work there are so funny and kind, it was an honor to get to know them. the lodge has a great vibe for relaxing in a hammock or by the river. I think a 4 week stay is the perfect amount of time to volunteer for. Pia & the managers are very flexible and understanding of your needs. Thank you to the whole the lodge team (& Munchies) for making my time with you so special xoxoxo

This was my first time volunteering and thanks to my great time at the lodge, it won't be my last. the lodge is a hidden gem filled with adventure, fun and warmth. The work and hours were fair and always respected. The food was amazing!! The managers were always around to help and support on and off shift. This experience taught me that nothing in life needs to be taken so seriously and to slow down. I have only been gone a week and miss it already! Can't wait to come back and visit. Thank you to the entire the lodge team for having me! (Someone pls take a nap in the hammocks for me) ;)
