Mountain View Cabins
Our biggest Plus has to be our amazing location! We are between Yoho National Park and Glacier National Park with 3 more stunning National Parks nearby. After work or on days off you can visit some fantastic, and famous, sights such as Banff, Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, Emerald Lake or a host of other beautiful spots.
We are looking for staff from May 1, 2025 to Sep. 30, 2025. We prefer a minimum of 3 weeks. Note that a work visa is required even to volunteer. I opened the cabins in June, 2014. We've been working with volunteers since before we opened and they have been an invaluable part of our progress and development. There are so many hidden talents with our volunteers! Some have made artistic signs for the cabins and around the property; others have put in shelves for storage or made chairs and benches; we've even had plumbers who got running water out to the outdoor kitchen! In the off-season there are normally only 3 or 4 volunteers at a time but in the peak season (mid-June to mid-September) we will have 7 or 8 volunteers. Depending on the season, staff are accommodated in regular guest cabins (off season); the staff cabin; a "bunkie"; or a large "cabin" tent. Lots of fun and lots of opportunities to meet amazing people from all over the world. We provide the food (3 meals a day) and staff take turns cooking dinner. You would be amazed at some of the great meals that they prepare. Our staff are all young international travelers from all over. We have hosted staff from over a dozen different countries.

My experience here was good. Nathan and Lilia are very kind people. At first, I slept in a tent and didn't like it because of the cold, but a week later, I was already in the staff cabin. They probably need a wider variety of food for breakfast and lunch. The cabins are far from the town of Golden and the tourist spots, making it difficult to make trips (however, Nathan always offered to take us there). As for housekeeping, I only did it a few times because my job changed to being in the office to make reservations and do laundry. It was a challenge for me since my English is basic.

I enjoyed my time at Mountain View Cabins. It is a beautiful place immersed in nature and surrounded by mountains. There are many friendly and helpful international volunteers there, eager to explore the area on their time off, and practice different languages with each other. The managers, Nathan and Lilia, are very kind, thoughtful, and easy going, always willing to help out with the cabins, or drive volunteers around the area for hikes or local activities, and they make sure you are comfortable with your stay.

I enjoyed my time at mountain view cabins, the work was fine & the scenery is very nice and the vibe is really peaceful. Nathan was a great and thoughtful manager that made sure I had a great time and was looked after.
Only a few things let it down from being a 5 star review. During my stay there were several prolonged plumbing issues that were not addressed professionally on the property, I did not have proper access to a running tap.
It is worth noting that there is not much to see nearby and there is no consistent transport, you will have to hitchhike from the HWY.

Nathan and Lilia were so kind and welcoming, always on hand to help with any issues and just really nice to chat with. The work was quite simple but could be demanding at times. The admin role definitely had more responsibilities and felt like more of a full on role. The accommodation could’ve been better as staying in a tent with a shared bathroom in the office wasn’t always ideal. That being said, I made some good friends here and the location is beautiful! A great first stop for my year in Canada :)

I had a lot of fun during volunteering here. Nathan and Lilia are awesome. Always very kind and proactive. And I met many volunteers come from all over the world. Everyone is friendly and always help each other ! The only thing need to know is if you want to go somewhere in your day off, then you need to hitchhike. But here got many volunteers, so you can go together with other volunteers !!
