Gaarawe

The present project aims to establish a community based on the economy of sufficiency, capable of producing food and essential goods for both internal consumption and providing hospitality to visitors. The community will operate in harmony with living beings and the surrounding environment. It will exist both in a virtual sense, as a network for exchanging information and contacts, and in a real sense, fostering human and commercial relationships with a shared commitment to living in a place where the "meaning of life" is based on empathy and the symbiosis of Man and Nature.

To strive to transcend the chaos of places ravaged by concrete and battered by the economic and social system of globalized capitalism, it is necessary to foster a culture of shared responsibility. The promotion of a society built on "duties before rights," empathy, and respect for fellow humans and Mother Earth is essential.

We have some wonderful itineraries of uncommon places to visit: caves, waterfalls, trekking, canoeing, big tree, fascinating temples, hot springs, the largest dam, and our beautiful river where we cool, we swim, and fishing.
Walking in the forest, in January, the Rataflesia , a flower, the largest in the world that was born only here.
This is the most primitive forest of the planet

Volunteers and residents live under the same conditions together as we prepare the day's program. Every day we dedicate ourselves to routine maintenance: we feed the chickens and the dogs, water the garden and collect fruit and vegetables to eat together. Sometimes we make jams or canned fruit for our breakfast.

1000% recommend.
I stayed at Gaarawé for 7 days and wished I could have stayed longer.

Sleeping in bamboo bungalows in the jungle, with crickets at night and chickens in the morning, was magical. The food is fresh, healthy, and mostly from their own garden.

The volunteer work was hands-on and creative, and there was plenty of time to slow down, swim in the river, and connect with the amazing people.

Lele is an inspiring host, the family is incredibly kind, and this place truly shows how little you need to feel fulfilled.
I hope to come back soon🥹

The host is a kind man.The helpers who stay long or have been there many times will understand.
However, for first time helpers, it may be difficult to understand the start time of meals, the nature of the work, and schdule afterwards.
Half day work,so we have half day free time, but we have to decide our plan ourselves. This means we can’t use effecttively unless you have bike or something.
Sorry for being harsh.I hope this will be a good environment for the next helper.
Because of my english skill, I can’t ask, that makes worse.
Anyway, that is good experience to stay bamboo house!

Staying at Lele is all you can wish from a volunteering project: you meet a lot of fun and interesting people, you can learn new practical things (cutting bamboo, making clay, etc), work is as demanding as you wish, flexible hours.
Food is great and fulfilling, freshly cooked daily.

It is a very relaxed, sociable and welcoming place. You cannot miss this experience!!

A very relaxing environment with nature around. I loved sleeping in a bamboo hut. It was good to see how you can practice permaculture and the sustainable life in your everyday life. Lele is a very passionate man who cares about nature the way everybody should, very inspiring. Tub and Jum who is working there are loveley people. Communication could be approved but it was a very good experience that I would recommend for others.
