I had a great time in Gran Canaria! I met the best people and had such a fun month. The managers (Margherita and Pascual) are great and the working hours were always respected. I will never forget my month in the Jungle! 🌴

The experience was far below expectations. The photos and description are misleading — the role was advertised as teaching sports, tour guide, and party promoter, but in reality, it was entirely cleaning bathrooms, kitchens, doing laundry, and mopping floors. Smoking (cigarettes) was constant among guests and volunteers, even indoors, and with no AC, the dorm was unbearable. While the manager and volunteers were kind, the recruiter (Carmina) who arranged the position was dishonest about nearly every detail. Be warned: if you apply for this position, you’ll be doing housekeeping — nothing else.

All in all this was a nice experience for me, because i had a great time together with the other volunteers and i met some cool people also from the other sister hostels! Margharita is a sweetheart and the tasks were pretty easy and as agreed. But throughout my stay there was a bedbug issue even though i was told before my arrival that everything is cleaned. Many guests in the hostel who stayed there for weeks are odd older men and which made me as a girl a bit uncomfortable, which is a shame because the hostel could be such a nice and cozy place to stay if there would be more young people

BED BUGS CREEPY MEN SHUT IT DOWN Left after one week and was supposed to be here for a month. The hostel has a serious, ongoing bedbug infestation that has persisted for at least three months. While staff claim to be treating it, the treatment is ineffective and they barely clean the rooms and completely ignore shared spaces like couches and chairs, allowing the infestation to spread. They told me to move to partner hostel but still work here with bedbugs. All their hostels have bugs. Creepy old men no young women at this hostel. Manager admitted to paying people to remove bad reviews online.

This was my first volunteering experience and it really was amazing. The manager Margherita was the sweetest and most understanding person. The work is not complicated and you still have a lot of time to explore this amazing island. The other volunteers were also great people and although I went alone, I was always in the company of really fun people. Yes, we did have some minor problems with some guests or with some equipment in the hostel, but overall I would really recommend the place!
