Cabbage Hostel

Cabbage Hostel is a unique 90-year-old mansion in a tranquil area of Belgrade. Here we welcome guests to our cosy home - we take pride in maintaining a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
We see our hostel is more than just a place to stay. It's a haven that we've lovingly nurtured, ensuring that every detail is taken care of with utmost care, so our guests can relax, work, meet new friends, and just have fun.
At Cabbage Hostel, we are humbled by the magic that our guests bring to our space. It's not just about us creating a welcoming environment; it's the incredible people who choose to stay with us that make our hostel truly special. Their stories, laughter, and shared joy are the greatest rewards for our hard work. We hope you would like to join us on our mission of making a place like this happen.

We are a team of two people. Dima is handling everything on site while Peter caters for all the things digital. Both of us value the comfort of our guests greatly and try to ensure the friendly and relaxed atmosphere in the hostel. We tend to do things 200% and care deeply about anything we put our minds into. and our hearts. We hope our volunteers can share our passion and see anything they do in the hostel as not just chores. We're open to suggestions and initiatives as well as developing fruitful cooperations further.

The hostel’s structure, cleanliness, and organization are impeccable, truly five-star. Breakfast for volunteers is plentiful and delicious, and the accommodation is cozy. However, the manager, Dima, runs everything with an iron hand; when things go off track, he raises his voice easily, creating unnecessary tension for volunteers and guests. A human-relations course would help. he is intelligent and hardworking, I know he is capable of improving. The work schedule is 6x1, like a CLT in Brasil. I wish the new volunteers and host success.

We understand that Dima may seem harsh to u at times, though u know there was never ill intent or disrespect. We care about our volunteers.
Sad that instead of sharing concerns with us (ironic, given your course suggestion), u chose to lie: about your experience at the hostel, reasons for leaving, promising a good testimonial.
Sure, u wanted to secure good feedback for yourself. That doesn’t change what it says about u. Honesty and open communication go both ways, we hope u’ll reflect on that.

I have so much to tell, It doesn't fit in 600 characters. Totally disrespectful person. Aggressive, screaming with guests, and staff. Made all the volunteers feel uncomfortable. Doesn't know how to treat guests, kicked out at least 5 people the first week X no reason, it's rude with every Asian people he met. I have witnesses he said really uncomfortable comments to me. Talking about my legs when I was wearing shorts, also telling me I could change my clothes in front of them (him and another girl that works with him), I was taking my clothes to change in the bathroom. Really sad experiences

We receive chiefly positive reviews from volunteers and guests from all backgrounds. We evicted one guest for getting violent.
Adrian said he enjoyed working with our manager (the one he’s now attacking), never mentioned these accusations.
It seems he reinterpreted neutral interactions, possibly seeing we’re an LGBTQ+ inclusive space. It could’ve been resolved in an adult conversation. Instead, he stayed a month (+ a few days as a guest), lied to our faces, and rewrote the story afterwards.

The overall experience was great! There were a few language barriers here and there, but everyone in charge was really kind and welcoming. The breakfasts (arguably my favorite part of the day) were delicious, and I honestly wish I could’ve stayed a bit longer.

I had a great time at Cabbage Hostel. The shifts are easy-going and the tasks are pretty logical, nothing out of this world. The hostel has ammenities like a "Cinema" in the basement and a working space in the third floor, so you can enjoy them after your shift, sharing experiences with the other guests or volunteers. The most of the guests are 'living' there, so, it was easy to connect with them. Belgrade is a nice city. The sunsets views from Kamelegdan are outstanding. The public transport is free of charge, and the prices at the supermarket are really cheap.
A big thanks to my hosts!! 🙌

It was a good experience, even though I had a hard time,Both the staff and the Dima was always there for me, he was a disciplined and very good person, It's a very pleasant place where you have the chance to meet people from all over the world. As for the work, it's simple and not too demanding, and the assigned hours are always respected.Thank you for your kindness and hospitality. I hope to come back soon and see you again.vhala(spasibo:)
