Somos una familia muy pequeña y valoramos a cada voluntario que viene con intenciones de ayudar y colaborar con nosotros.

brindamos un espacio para su estadía, yo (Nelson) vivo en casa con ellos y compartimoos el tiempo juntos, también estamos a un paso del lago y todos los voluntarios que han llegado, pasan medio dia en hostel y medio dia en agua haha

solo soy yo Nelson, me ayuda Dennilson en limpieza y orden de la casa, Delmer es el otro socio pero el nunca esta con nosotros, mas que todo sere yo (Nelson) con quien tendrás mas contacto

The warm welcome from the entire team and the great support I received throughout my work made all the difference. Every single person on the team was respectful, patient, humorous, and empathetic. The atmosphere is calm and family-like, and the place is designed with such care and attention to detail that I was able to express my creativity and contribute freely. I cannot think of a single negative aspect of my time at Ahau, and I am deeply grateful for this wonderful experience. Thank you to the entire team at Ahau Tikal – see you again!

I had a wonderful time with Nelson and the rest of the volunteers and employees at Ahau Tikal!
The work was very doable, manning reception was never boring as there was always something else to do, such as craft projects, helping with making breakfast, chatting with guests, cleaning up and doing some laundry, bartending at a wonderful open mic event, etc. On top of that, Flores is a beautiful place to stay, with lots of cute cafes, places to swim, and people to meet. In the days off we had enough times to go on tours such as Tikal. Highly recommend, thank you so much and best of luck :)

omg where do i start! i loved being in Flores, and volunteering at Ahau Tikal. Nelson is so genuine, helpful, understanding, and relatable. Whenever i had to talk or laugh, he’s always there to listen. The other employees, Dennilson, Mauricio, and Allison, they were amazing! from us teaching each other our native language to our inside jokes? i enjoyed all of it. And Queen Nieve? love her lol. Lastly, my experience wouldn’t be the way it was without my girlies, Laia and Alice! I wouldn’t change a thing. it. From our family dinners to our dance sessions? Ahau will always have my heart :)

My experience at Ahau Tikal was absolutely amazing!! I had the best time there and met and volunteered alongside the most amazing people. Nelson was incredibly welcoming from the start and flexible and so were Denilson and Allison. Everyone was super helpful and friendly and it honestly felt like home. The other volunteers also made my time there. Would honestly return in a heartbeat and was super sad to leave.

I loved working at Ahau Hostel — it truly felt like home.
Nelson, the manager, is the best! He creates an atmosphere where you feel welcomed and free at the same time.
Teaching small groups was such a rewarding experience, and I absolutely loved the hostel vibe — swimming in the lake, walking everywhere, and just soaking in the energy of the place.
I really hope I can come back someday. It was an unforgettable time. 🌞💧🏡✨
