I had an amazing stay at the project in the project! I learned so much about the mangroves, Indonesian bees and the local way of life. The kids I taught English to were enthusiastic and kind, and everyone in the community made me feel so welcome from the very first day. It's a wonderful place to connect with nature, experience authentic Indonesian culture and be part of a warm, caring environment.

I had an amazing time teaching the students! They're super open-minded, eager to improve their English, and curious about the world. Life there is unique — everyone is self-sufficient, the nature is beautiful, and the people are incredibly welcoming. I even got invited to dinner by locals and felt like part of the family. Such a special experience that I'm really grateful for! I recommend this experience <3

I spent two weeks with my travel buddy, Agung who quickly became my family, my brother, my partner in crime. Together we probably rode across half the island. Sometimes I didn't even know where I was going, but I didn't need to. I trusted Agung. I even got to ride a scooter myself (still proud of that one). I got to film the heartbeat of the project. We explored beautiful beaches, jungles, and waterfalls. I was also welcomed by Habib's family — who treated me like one of their own. They became my second home. I could write an entire monologue about this experience, but for now...matur tampiasih!

My stay in the project was a very special and memorable experience. The people are all so welcoming and happy to see you. I got to connect with so many local people and be a part of their everyday life which made my travels so authentically rich. The program offers a variety of possible activities and pursuits that are very flexible, as you can decide for yourself what you want to try and to what extent. Playing with the children, learning not only english with them but also indonesian from them, and getting to know a culture so different from my own was an unforgettable experience!

The homestay with at bagek kembar was truly an eye opening experience into the lives of the locals. i have learnt to appreciate the relaxed pace of life there, while at the same time immersing myself in the local culture. from eating home cooked meals to exploring scenic hikes in the project, i am greatly humbled by the opportunities given to me at bagek kembar. mr agus and his family are very welcoming and friendly, along with Idrius, Abi and the rest of team. everyone is very friendly and accomodating to my any request, and i felt more like a guest there than just a volunteer.

Me and my boyfriend enjoyed our experience so much we extended. Didn't come with a lot of expectations since we've been the first volunteers here, but let me say it has been an honour. It's been better than what I could've imagined. Shortly after arriving we felt so connected to these amazing kids, the beautiful environment surrounding us and the local community. The tasks are very comprehendible and I have enjoyed every part of it. Super relaxed atmosphere- slow and quality way of living. I am so grateful for everything, and we can't wait to come back. ❤️🌱

Accommodations Along the Lombok Journey

Throughout the journey, travelers experience three distinct types of accommodation — each reflecting a different side of Lombok’s landscapes and culture.

The adventure begins in local homestays and guesthouses in Aik Berik and nearby villages, where comfort meets cultural immersion. Rooms are simple yet cozy, and bathrooms are shared or semi-private, featuring Western-style toilets and clean running water.

During the Mount Rinjani trek, nights are spent camping under the stars, surrounded by the serenity of the mountains. Campsites feature basic, eco-friendly toilet setups maintained by local porters.

In the final stretch of the journey, the group stays in comfortable hotels and eco-lodges across Mataram, Sekotong, and the Gili Islands. Rooms include private bathrooms with Western-style toilets, hot and cold showers, and all the essentials like towels and toiletries.

Across all stages of the journey, every accommodation is carefully chosen to combine authentic local living with essential traveler comfort — from village warmth to mountain adventure and seaside tranquility.
