My stay at the shelter was amazing! I learned a lot about dog behaviour and fell in love with these lovely animals at the shelter. During my stay in a big Caravan i had a lot of space for myself and everything i needed. The working times were respected and comunicated well, the tasks consisted of feeding and walking the dogs, cleaning the pens and giving lots of cuddles to the dogs. Sometimes some repairing/building tasks were needed. I will definitely miss spending time with the other volunteers, going to the nearby beach or exploring cities around the shelter. Thanks for everything!🐾❤️

Leo is a very happy, friendly, flexible and responsible person. She worked well within the team of volunteers and is a gifted carpenter. She enjoyed being with the animals and her commitment while she was here was greatly appreciated. We will miss you Leo! Enjoy your travels snd come and see us again please.

I throughly enjoyed my stay at the shelter. The group of volunteers were so amazing and friendly, which absolutely made the stay! The dogs were so easy to look after and I definitely feel in love with a few. The accommodations and washing facilities provided are a bit more basic than described and I think it would have been super helpful to have a work expectation and what to expect with the stay description prior to my arrival.

Niamh was a friendly person generally. She worked well within the team and enjoyed working with the dogs. Nobody else has a problem with the accommodation or the shower and Niamh raised no concerns while she was here. We are limited to the amount of characters we can put on our description so we try to put the information that help people the most before they come here. We always answer any questions asked from potential volunteers. Thank you for all your help while you were here Nniamh.

I spend 3 weeks at the shelter in a rlly cozy caravan, the work was okay, not to hard, and the dogs soo cute, if u have to wash your clothes there is a bath tub. For me it was after a time bit difficult without a car... there are bikes but you have to be sporty for them if u need groceries for example xd

This opportunity was incredibly rewarding as I was taking care of the dogs and working at the sanctuary. I also had the pleasure of taking care of and living with the kindest dog while staying there. The accomodation was comfortable and the times were perfectly set each day for work, which I really appreciated. I would recommend this to anyone looking to volunteer their time with dogs and spend time in Southern Portugal! Thank you so much Karen!

Loved all the dogs, they are all really sweet and lovely. Hardest part is not taking any home with you! All the other vollenteers were really nice and the work was really reasonable, a lot of time spending just cuddling and playing with the doggos. My stay with in the tent and I found it very comfortable (very nice comfy mattress) and Karen is always happy to supply for blankets to those who got cold. I really love what she is doing for all the dogs and was very happy I could stay and help out :)

Karen is such an amazing woman. A true inspiration and I admire what she does. I stayed two weeks and it was a good time for me. Be aware that it is quite far from the nearest store (the Uber's are cheep and Karen will give you a ride). In my time spent there there was a lot of couples and somewhat hard to socialize. But over all i meet beautiful people and had a good time. The work is really easy.

The Place is perfect, not only to get in touch with dogs and people, but also to see some landscapes and villages in the shelter. With Uner you can be flexible on your days off and make cheap trips to different places. The caravan was very cosy and the working hours perfect. TA very nice beach is also very close (35 minutes walk).

Had an amazing day at the shelter, stayed in the small caravan which was nice having my own space. Was a great place to meet new people from all over the world. the shelter is also a 30 minute hike to the beach and there is a lot of beautiful hikes near by. Highly recommend if you want to work with and help dogs.

I had a lovely stay at the shelter! Such a cozy place and what Karen does for all these dogs are wonderful. We had nice work hours and a lot of free time which made it very easy to connect with the other volunteers and the dogs. I would definitely go back again! Miss it already.

The stay was great. I lived in the 1-person caravan for 2.5 weeks. The tasks mainly consisted of feeding and cleaning the dogs (and cats), as well as going for walks. Karen was helpful, picking us up from the bus or taking us shopping. One small drawback was the shared volunteer kitchen, which was a bit difficult to keep clean as it is half open, but in the end we managed it anyway. You can definitely tell that the animals are the top priority here! Highly recommended, you're doing something good here in the right place! Thank you to Karen and all the other lovely volunteers that I've met!
