I had an amazing time at Alt Hostel! The tasks were easy und I had a lot of free time to discover Montréal, relax or connect with other people at the hostel. Made some great friends there. The staff is really kind and welcoming. The location is very good and a lot of places are within walking distance.

L'auberge the hostel était mon tout premier woofing. J'ai passé un super temps là-bas. Ils ont 2 auberges et je suis restée à celle du vieux Montréal qui est hyper cosy. Les réceptionnistes ont été toutes et tous adorables durant tout mon temps. Laura qui s'occupe des volontaires est très gentille et a l'écoute pour les heures de travail et jours de congés. On y travaille 3h pour 2 jours off. Seule chose que j'ai trouvé dommage est que la lessive n'est pas gratuite pour les volontaires (de mon côté c'est durant le ménage que j'ai le plus sali mes affaires). Il faut payer comme les clients.

My time in the hostel was very good. The hostel is super clean and comfortable and the receptionist and other guests were so cool and nice. Laura was very understanding and flexible with the schedule. Work hours are not long at all but it can be quite tiring if you are doing all the cleaning by yourself. Some things to have in mind: Montreal is super pricey and they don't give any food (except for poutine on Thursday nights) so have that in mind when you go! Also no free laundry or towel. During my time there 2 volunteers had problems with the owner but he is almost never around anyway

I know you were disappointed that there's no meals, but like I told you, we are asking very little hours compared to other hosts so I think we offer a very good deal :)
I only had an issue with one volunteer, but the other one was his friend and followed along. Anyway, tks for your help and safe trip!

My time at Alt hostel was incredible. From the moment I arrived I felt so welcomed by the staff. The hostel is very clean and modern and well located the staff and volunteers were all so kind and friendly. The work is very easy and it's great you get 3 days off to explore the city. I would definitely recommend this hostel and hope to come back in the summer . Thank you to everyone there for making my time there so amazing :)

My experience was exceptional, I was very well received and everyone treated me very well, the girls are super patient and always help you with whatever you need, the tasks are super light and calm, you will have plenty of time to carry out your trips, the place is incredibly cozy and comfortable, I loved every moment of it and the hostel is really beautiful. Thank you Laura for all the welcome and attention.

Everything about the place was awesome. Super great sociable hostel which is always nice. The hours were really good, gave me plenty of time to see the city and do my own thing. Really liked it from start to finish. Would definitely recommend

El Hostel es muy especial, se genera una atmosfera muy agradable con los turistas y el equipo. Laura es muy linda, accesible a las solicitudes y requerimientos que uno tenga, las horas de trabajo y las tareas se respetan muy bien y la buena voluntad es bien valorada, el hostel esta muy bien ubicado y en una zona muy estratégica, Sabina me recibió el primer día y me dio los mejores tips para mi estadía. Espero volver como voluntaria o como huésped en algún otro momento =)

It was a very nice experience, especially thanks to the staff and the guests. The receptionists are all very friendly, respect work schedules, and the work itself is very easy, leaving you with plenty of free time. As a recommendation, they could make a room exclusively for volunteers because sharing a room with 10 people plus the noise from the room next door made it very difficult to sleep. I solved this with headphones. The good thing is that Laura, despite not always being at the hostel, is attentive to your needs and finds solutions. We always had good communication. Thanks to the team 🥰

I had a disappointing experience at this hostel. I didn't even meet the host until several days after arriving. Then, without much notice, the hostel was suddenly closed for four days, and we were forced to leave with only one day's warning. Another major issue was their use of glue traps for mice, which is incredibly inhumane and causes unnecessary suffering to animals. To make matters worse, my friend was kicked out without much explanation. When I expressed my discomfort and uncertainty about how to proceed, I was also asked to leave. The entire situation felt unprofessional and unfair.

I know you were friend with Joe. Joe was reminded on a daily basis by my staff that it was is last chance to abide few basic rules. He did not change path. At some point, we have to draw a line. Personally, I had only good feedbacks about you and think you were doing a great job. But when you told me that you were not sure if you would stay or leave with Joe, it was up to you. I just could not work with a "maybe". You would have been more than welcome to stay however.

I learned I was fired at 10am, they gave me only 30 minutes to leave, Why ? I opened and drank a sip of beer with a friend (she was fired too but they gave her 1 day to leave) before go out of the building instead of doing that outside, A retirement home would be funnier, But I need to thanks them cause thanks to them I took a plane ticket to Cancun for the next day with this friend, and we lived awesome experiences instead of the boredom in this hostel. Thanks for all, even you boss, even if you're not a « patient person » like you said, wish you to f*ck this year or decade 🤞🤞

Hey Joe,
Glad you find hapiness in Mexico. You were told on a daily basis that you had to follow the few basic rules we have at the hostel, and given at least 2-3 last call. You were suppose to help us out, but instead my staff was telling me on a daily basis at what point you were a pain in the ass. You had it coming! I have no remorse of kicking you out, but also no hard feelings.
