The hostel is an amazing place. The balance between work and what you get in return is excellent, allowing you to have a lot of free time. The staff is really nice and the communication with them was always clear and easy. One of my favourite things was meeting people from over the world. So I definitely recommend this experience if you want to spent some time in a nice city and meeting cool people.

I think I cannot express in words how amazing the hostel Experience was. Was my third time here, I truly recommend this place. The exchange is fair, just a few hours of work per week and you can enjoy the rest of the time with the other volunteers, in Edinburgh and in all the events the hostel promotes. During all my stayings here I never felt away from home, is actually my home 🥲The hostel is full of different activities, the managers promote them and are always thinking in new ideas to bring to the atmosphere, they care for the volunteers and also are super cool 😎 HSH=Home Sweet Home❤

My experience at HSH was truly unique. From the management team to the staff and volunteers, everyone helps create a space where families, stories, and memories are built. I'd go back in a heartbeat! The work and hours are fair, giving you plenty of free time to enjoy the city and its surroundings. Huge thanks to Gabs and Jay! <3

It was the best decision to go to the hostel. I really enjoyed my stay, and it's only 14 hours of work! I loved the team's energy, and there are so many of us volunteers that it's truly a family. Gabs, Jay and Dale are a very good team leading the hostel and they made me feel very welcome and loved. Thank you guys !!

I had the best time at the hostel, so much that I decided to extend for an extra month. I had the opportunity to be there through the hectic months of July and August as well as the quieter month of September, and I have to say that I have never felt more at home. The volunteering hours were more than reasonable (only 2h a day !!), fully equipped kitchen, ideal situation right at the centre of edi... It was wonderful to be part of this hostel and its amazing team. I have made lifelong friends Im sure I'll see again, hopefully at the hostel. I cannot wait for szn 2 Bisous from France

Voluntariar en el hostel fue una experiencia increíble. Desde el primer día te integran como parte de una familia. El staff y los voluntarios son lo mejor, siempre amigables. Los turnos son flexibles (en su mayoría de 11 a 1), así que tienes el resto del día libre para disfrutar Edimburgo o visitar otras ciudades cercanas. Además, todos los días hay actividades: pub crawls, noches de juegos, etc. El ambiente es muy social y te sientes como en casa. ¡Recomendadísimo! Es para estar más de un mes sin sentir que estás apurado por moverte, incluso buscar algo más a largo plazo

From day one, I felt part of a big and beautiful family. Every single person working here makes you feel welcome from the first moment, and it's impossible not to enjoy together all the activities the hostel has to offer: from movie night, to pool tournament, to pub crawl, etc Shifts are flexible, you get your first week with cleaning shift (2h) per day, and after the first week you can choose the shifts you like the most. Tasks are also quite clear and easy to get done. Special thanks to Gabs, Fraser and ALL the other volunteers who made this month so special. Love you all guys 😭

Volunteering at the hostel was honestly one of the best decisions I've ever made. I ended up staying for 5 months, and even that didn't feel long enough. From the start, I felt at home. The team is full of kind, hilarious, genuinely good people who made every day feel easy and fun. 🥖🥂

HSH is an amazing hostel and I would 100% recommend volunteering here. It is only 14 hours a week which is very little. You have some flexibility to pick other shifts to get days off, the most common shift is the 11-1 housekeeping shift. This gives you plenty of time to explore Edinburgh and it's surrounding areas. The hostel has events 6 nights of the week. There is a big number of volunteers, with a friendly and chill atmosphere, so you can get involved in the events as much or as little as you want. I loved my time here and it's why I extended to 2 months - hard to say goodbye!
