Programmdetails

You will be treated like family. You can stay "free" in our home, in your private bedroom, with laundry, unlimited internet, and meals supplied.
This is a help-out where you can position yourself, but we tend to foster your existing interests while also teaching you new skills.
In particular, we will teach you about the equine discipline of endurance riding.
Our life revolves around our horses and traveling 🧳 to endurance events.
There may be a weekend where you may just farm/cat/horses/house-sitting. This is a quiet time centered around caring for the horses, cat, and gardens to keep everything fed and watered while we are away. However, normally you will be invited to join us on our trips away.
We begin each day with bacon, eggs, and avocado[when in season]. We follow a predominantly Paleo diet [no grains or legumes] just wholesome, unprocessed foods sourced from free-range, wild, or grass-fed producers. We don't eat much during the day. A piece of fruit, a slice of cake, and a cuppa. Dinner is salad or veggies with meat [maybe curry, bolognese, stroganoff, chili con carne, soup]
Capable horse riders will experience Australian life in peaceful bushlands, viewing Australian wildlife such as goannas, emus, echidnas, kookaburras, kangaroos 🦘 , koalas 🐨, snakes etc
We have lots of horses 🐴 available for your adventures on our miles and miles of tracks. We have lots of new foals born each year and we handle them.
If you like cities and lots of people, then this is not for you. If you love nature and quiet, then you are in the right place!
Many of our volunteers have happily ended their time with us by riding in a 40km endurance event. For most, their stay at Flemingo was the highlight of their time in Australia.
We offer free transfers from the coach or the airport.

Aktivitäten & Schichten

Months available:-
mid to late December 2025, July, August, September, October 2026.

Apply, and I can adjust the position "time" to suit your preferred stay/months. We are hosting two riders for July, August, September and October as we train the young green Arabian horses to compete in their first 40km event.
We are looking for a confident and capable horse rider who wants to experience our way of life and is prepared to step in when I/we don’t have enough hands or time.

For those who can ride horses well, there will be plenty of opportunities and perhaps even to compete in a 40km endurance event.
So riders who have stayed longer have become qualified endurance riders reaching Open Status - an amazing achievement 👏😊🏇

There will usually be only one volunteer at a time, though during busy times, there may be two.

This position would suit a backpacker or volunteer interested in cultural exchange, offering an experience revolving around horses.

We need help on the farm with the horses, in the garden, and in the home. Typically, nothing very strenuous ... just lending a hand .... feeding out hay to the horses each day, opening gates so the tractor can pass through, helping to move horses, fixing fences, weed spraying, cleaning water troughs, catching and saddling horses, ruging horses and feeding the cat, assisting with preparing the evening meal, setting the table, maybe do a load of washing and help to keep the house clean.

Most afternoons are spent with the horses: going out for a ride, [walk, trot and canter] as the sun sets, viewing many Australian animals in the bushland.
You must be fit and able to ride for one or two hours each day.

Sorry - 😢 time & horses do not allow for beginner riders.

Happy for WHV people to apply to do 88 days as a volunteer.
