Über das Erlebnis in: Siem Reap, Kambodscha
Brasilien
The accommodation was unsanitary—dirty bathroom, bad smell, spiders, and even rats outside. Electricity and Wi-Fi barely worked, and AC was restricted despite extreme heat. After requesting a refund, the manager gave me only $30 of the $110 I paid, kept $80 claiming it was for donations (though the school lacked books, paper, or markers), and banned me from volunteering further. She even asked volunteers for $200 “contributions” to cover bills. Sadly, it felt neither non-profit nor child-focused. If you want to help, make sure to buy materials for kids yourself instead of donating the money.
