Pondok Wisata Tegal Wedangga

Tegal Wedangga in Taro might be worth checking out, guys. It’s right next to a sacred forest, adding to the calm, almost mystical vibe of the place. Locals have been preserving this area for generations, blending nature with their tradition that started in the 8th century in this very village. For these reasons, this place feels like a laid-back retreat surrounded by greenery.

The village is home to Bali’s sacred white cattle (Lembu Putih). It has cooler climate compared to the rest of the island, making it extra refreshing. Also, it's away from the tourist crowds but close enough to Ubud and Kintamani for day trips.

It’s the kind of place you go when you want to slow down and soak in the quiet side of Bali. No frills, no pressure—just nature, culture, and a real connection with the land. Let me know if you're curious about nearby spots, too! 😊

Finally, if you are lucky, you will be able to take part in some of the many religious ceremonies in Bali.

P.S. not sure where I should put this, but if you are a coffee addict, get yourself a nice pack of your fave espresso beans. and feel free to use my manual espresso tool. there hasn't been any good place to get some coffee here in the village 😮‍💨🙂‍↔️

I'm tasked to help managing the land. So, I propose volunteers to help the father-son duo in preparing a sustainable and really eco-minded way of running a guest house to make sure the nature and culture are preserved as long as possible. I also have been part of couchsurfing community for a decade, so I know how to deal with people from different backgrounds and worldviews. I'll try my best to make you feel like a family and a place you want to look forward to visiting back in the future. UPDATE: grandpa got a seizure last month, construction is slowing down, and schedule is messed up at the moment. Every plan is scrapped, and the owner is working based on what doable for him to do, so, the volunteers will need to help whatever plan he has on the D-day.

I had an AMAZING EXPERIENCE here! ❤ probably the best way i could be introduced to Bali. Anton is an incredible host, and now a friend :) He's easy to get along with, funny, friendly and very relaxed! I spent 4 weeks helping with social media and it was truly a taste of the real bali, Anton helped teach and show me so many things about Balinese culture, the spiritual philosophy and how the locals really live. I even learned some Indonesian and i got to see and experience so so much!

If your looking for a real, wholesome bali exerience, this is the perfect place. Also the site is BEAUTIFUL.

Merci ❤

This was my first solo trip and my first time in Southeast Asia, and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Antonious was an amazing host, open, thoughtful, and someone you can genuinely talk to. He gave me the space to listen and understand, guiding me through Balinese culture in all its lights and shadows. I’m really grateful for everything I learned during my month in Bali.

If you want to experience the true local lifestyle, I can't recommend enough this volunteer opportunity! Taro is a beautiful, peaceful town surrounded by nature. The people are very friendly and always willing to help. During my stay, I had the opportunity to participate in Galungan and see the importance of tradition in Balinese culture! Special mention to Anton, who made me feel so welcome. We had some really interesting talks, he took us to do trekking, made us try some delicious (and a little spicy 🥵) food, and we laughed a lot! Such an amazing person, I’m gonna miss u 🖤

It has been wonderful being here with Antonius and the other volunteers. The vibe and the place are always good and funny. It's an easy-going and slow life experience that makes you understand the way of the true Balinese living. Taro people are unique and always ready to help or have a chat.
I will definitely go back if I ever get to travel to Bali again.
Terima kasih!
