Mayan Monkey Cancun is set in the heart of the hotel zone, overlooking the lagoon and right across the street from an unbelievably blue-water beach and steps away from the most popular restaurants and bars. The property features fantastic common areas surrounded by nature and spaces to relax, work, party, and watch the best sunsets in town.
Mayan Monkey‘s concept is centered around people, socializing, sharing, and exchanging. This principle is embedded in every aspect of the experience and it all begins with our staff. Everyone at our hostel is treated with respect and is welcomed as a friend. We think of volunteers as an opportunity to exchange experiences and bring diversity, creativity, and fun to our community. Al llegar a mayan me hicieron firmar un papel donde salía las reglas del lugar, en donde me enteré que estaba prohibido pasar tiempo en el hotel en tus tiempos libres. Solo podías ocupar la habitación y la cocina de huéspedes. En cocina es arduo el trabajo, rotando entre ayudante de cocina y lavaplatos. La comida es rica aunque a veces es poca la porción, la mayoría del staff tiene buena disposición en enseñarte. Cabe mencionar que el hotel está en medio de la naturaleza, es muy bello lugar pero cuenta con muchos mosquitos, lleven repelente !!

Me encantó mi experiencia en Mayan Monkey. Se respetan los horarios, cumplen con las comidas y puedes usar las instalaciones como un huésped. El trabajo fue sencillo y una gran oportunidad para conocer personas, nuevas culturas y conectar con los locales. Hice amistades que llevaré siempre en mi corazón 💜💖 Ver nacer y desovar tortugas frente a la playa fue una experiencia inolvidable🐢

Great experience volunteering here for 2 weeks. The staff and managers are easy to communicate with, very easy to practice English/Spanish with local and international travelers. Many hostel events for volunteers and guests to participate in. Located in hotel zone so lots of beaches/nightlife nearby, easy access to public transit that goes through Hotel Zone to Downtown Cancun. (ADO station 20 min) Easy shifts, responsibilities and expectations are clear. Good food provided during breakfast/lunch, Chedruai and restaurant options nearby. Would recommend on both short and long term basis :)
