La Casa delle Fate
My life is my land and my land is my life. I have lived in this corner of Gallura between Olbia and San Teodoro for as long as I can remember . Here I was born in 1968, here my father was born in 1904 and, before him, here my grandfather was born in 1848. A visceral passion that we have handed down for centuries among a thousand hardships and also many joys. Today I run this small farm with my partner and my daughter, born in 1993. We are animated by a great love for nature and animals. Ours is a multifunctional farm which is based on growing herbs, fruit trees and olive trees and raising laying hens. Along with us, in addition to the large group of hens that roam freely in the fields, live 3 donkeys, a pony, one alpaca a multitude of Tibetan goats t, and a lively family of Romagna geese. The farm spreads over 3 hectares of land between woods, hills and plains.
We would like to share these experiences with those who, like us, love nature and animals. Daily activities are varied and related to the seasons. In general our priority is tending the animals, then taking care of the herb field, the garden and all the fruit plants, pruning and grafting olive trees, harvesting olives and myrtle, checking the fences, maintaining the barn, warehouse and all the farm equipment, cutting wood and cleaning the forest.
The volonteers can share with us all activities during these days lived strictly in the open air. Waking up in the morning around 7 a.m., breakfast, first tour of the animal shelters clean-up and feeding everyone, clearing the woods and checking fences. During the harvest season most of the time is devoted to this activity. In June, with the flowering of lavender and helichrysum, it is time to pick and make bunches to prepare the flowers for drying . A decidedly heady operation. I like to do a little bit of everything, especially crafts, from gardening to DIY.
