Destination Hostels
Made by travelers for travelers, we are the coolest chain of the hostels in Lisbon. We have the best location in town, very nice rooms and activities, as well as facilities. Join our team and get to know Lisbon as a local!
Even though this place will be temporary for you, your contribution is still important for us. I enjoyed my time at Sunset destination hostel.
The work was clear and exactly as described.
I found the party vibes manageable as a non-drinker because it was a quiet time of year.
A special thank you to the managers, Sonia and Margarita.
the receptionists, Fred, Pedro, Albano were excellent to work alongside.
The nighttime receptionists that I met upon occasion were lovely.
Housekeeping are very friendly and supportive. I felt I received a lot of positive feedback.
The maintenance crew were also helpful and welcoming.
The location is ideal for living as a local or as a tourist!

My experience was overall okay, but several things weren’t as clear during the interview. I was told shifts were 4h with occasional extensions, but almost all mine were 8h. The volunteer room has no windows or ventilation and is next to a construction area. Housekeeping was supposed to be ~20 beds but I always did 25+. Shifts didn’t rotate as promised. Manager communication was very limited and slow.
If you just want accommodation and free parties, it’s a good place. If you’re looking for a warmer, more local experience, it’s not the best. The reception, hk and bar staff were the highlight

I had an amazing experience volunteering here! Staff and fellow volunteers were all incredible. There is plenty of time to explore Lisbon and engage in social activities.One of the biggest highlights was the pub crawls🍸
The opportunity to visit other destination hostels is great. The hours are very fair and most of the tasks are easy and fun. I can recommend this place to everyone who enjoys a social atmosphere!

My month at Sunset was a truly wonderful experience. The bonds you make with the fellow volunteers, at both the Destination hostels, in combination with the work/life balance is the recipe for an unforgettable stay! I would also say, despite not being a huge fan of making beds, that the tasks at hand were both manageable and fair :)

This was my second Worldpackers experience, and overall, it was decent.
Lisbon itself is an amazing city! I wouldn't say SDH is a top tier hostel, but if you know what to expect, SDH can be a worthwhile experience.
SDH has a cozy vibe, central location, and amazing team! Also, Margarida, the volunteer coordinator, was super sweet and accommodating!
Shifts were: bfast, reception, beds. You work alone except at reception. Bed shifts felt like an intense workout since you make +/- 20 to 30 beds. Also, bedbugs were found in two rooms but were later addressed.
