Casas da Ribeira

Casas da Ribeira is a unique project dedicated to restoring an ancient granite village in the heart of Serra da Estrela, Portugal. Each house has been carefully rebuilt with respect for local heritage, honoring traditional craftsmanship and timeless materials.
Guided by a deep love for nature, the project also embraces the preservation of the region’s native forest. Surrounded by pure landscapes and silence, Casas da Ribeira invites guests to reconnect—with nature, simplicity, and the spirit of the mountains.

Ana, your host, is a co-founder of Casas da Ribeira and a force of nature. A true lover of all nature and animals, she has long been planting trees knowing she'll never see them fully grown.

I want to say a big thank you to Ana for this experience! I was able to help at Ana’s guest houses, help to restore a forest that had been burned by a fire, and care for Ana’s lovely cats and dogs (and they gave me lots of love in return). The work was straightforward and simple to do. Ana helped me learn some Portuguese too. In my free time she took me on explorations and I hiked around the area almost every day. I would highly recommend this to anyone! Ana is truly an amazing and loving person. I am so thankful I was able to spend my time with her.

Minha experiência na casas da ribeira foi inesquecível. O cuidado e dedicação que a anfitriã dona Ana tem com a natureza, animais e com as outras pessoas é admirável.
Agradeço aos demais membros da equipe (Catarina e Laurinda) pela maneira gentil como me receberam. A aldeia toda é muito bonita e recomendo a todos que queiram visitar Portugal a conhecer Seia e as casas da ribeira.

Fue una experiencia maravillosa de la cual me voy con el corazón lleno, aprendí mucho con y de Ana que es una mujer increíble y muy inspiradora con mucho amor por la tierra y los animales. Ella y Catarina son un equipo fantástico que me hizo sentir como en casa desde el primer momento.
