Detalhes
We are preparing our off-grid cortijo in the Alpujarra mountains for another season of retreats and B&B guests, and we’d love your help! This is a beautiful, peaceful place surrounded by nature, perfect if you enjoy working outdoors and living close to the land.
What we expect from volunteers:
- Around 4–5 hours of help a day, split between morning and afternoon
-Gardening tasks such as pulling weeds, planting succulents, creating borders, and keeping the land looking beautiful
-Helping with light maintenance projects in common areas (yoga platform, bar, shared spaces)
-A flexible and self-sufficient mindset—sometimes tasks change depending on the season or what’s most needed
-Respect for our shared space and an open attitude to off-grid living
What volunteers can expect from us:
-Accommodation in a peaceful mountain setting with stunning views
-Fully equipped kitchen to prepare your meals (we sometimes like to eat together but as a family we also need our private space)
-A daily rhythm of work balanced with time to relax, hike, or read
-Rides into town or to the beach (we drive daily and you’re welcome to join)
-Connection with like-minded people and the chance to be part of a space dedicated to retreats, community, and well-being
-Fast internet that makes it possible to work remotely
Please note: we are far from shops and nightlife, so this opportunity is best for those who enjoy nature, simple living, and quiet beauty.
Atividades & Turnos
We ask for around 4–5 hours of help per day, usually split into two shifts to make the most of the cooler hours:
Morning shift (before the sun gets hot):
-Watering plants
-Pulling weeds
-Planting new seeds and succulents
-Trimming trees and planting new ones
-Taking care of the chickens and cleaning the coop
Afternoon shift (middle or towards the end of the day):
-Garden work (as above, if needed)
-Building and maintenance projects:
-Placing wooden poles for terraces
-Small woodwork tasks
-Placing fences
-Maintenance on the yoga deck (adding new blocks, tiles, etc.)
-General improvements in common areas like the bar and yoga platform
This mix of gardening and light maintenance keeps the work varied and creative. There’s also plenty of time in between shifts to relax, enjoy the mountain views, go hiking, or join us for a ride into town or to the beach.
Regras
To make sure everyone has a great experience here, we ask volunteers to keep the following in mind:
-Respect & privacy: We live and work together, so it’s important to respect each other’s strength pace, energy, and privacy.
-Open-mindedness: Our cortijo welcomes people from all walks of life. Being flexible and open to new experiences makes everything flow better.
-Respect for nature & life: We live close to the land and value harmony with all beings. Please treat the environment, animals, and natural resources with care and respect.
-Shared meals: We enjoy eating together, but it’s not required every time. Sometimes we share meals, sometimes everyone does their own thing.
-Mindful use of things: Whether it’s tools, bikes, or shared spaces, please use everything with care and respect. If something breaks, let us know right away so we can fix it together.
-Independence: Often, you’ll be given a task and the freedom to carry it out on your own. We really appreciate volunteers who can think for themselves, work independently, and show initiative without needing constant supervision.
-Communication style: We are Dutch, which means we can be very direct in communication. This comes from a place of honesty and care, not criticism. We appreciate when volunteers can receive feedback with an open heart.
-Positive attitude: We value initiative, creativity, and a proactive mindset. A smile and a can-do attitude go a long way here!
By following these simple guidelines, we create a positive, supportive environment where everyone feels at home.
