I went back and forth with enjoying the experience to hating it. Pinan Jim has a lot of knowledge to bring but I felt like his teaching was very harsh at points (physically taking things out of my hand without explanation he would just finish it, grading me on philosophical answers to random questions) went from positive praise to unkindly comparing me to other volunteers and back. Thought maybe it was me or a cultural thing but his wife was extremely kind (didn't get to spend much time with her sadly) left a month early because I felt like I was going crazy with some of the gas lighting/li

HHH is an opportunity to get out of your comfort zone as a western tourist and learn more about the life of people of the Lan Na community. Pinan has lot of knowledge about medical herbs, buddism, guitar playing, traditional cooking, local languages, survival skills... He welcomes questions and is eager for you to learn from him to his own pace. He hosted a lot of volunteers in his life and he speaks openly about what he thinks. The workload is fair and there's plenty of time to rest in the afternoons. I'm grateful for what I've learned.

I ended up leaving early, but not from Pinan, he seemed great and the area seemed very beautiful. I was just very overwhelmed and tired upon arrival from flights and mishaps, I felt it was unfair to Pinan because I knew my first morning waking up I was going to be unable to work. I wish the eco village well !

My experience at the eco village wasn't the best one. Didn't connect much with Pinan Jim and had the impression of not being take care of. Cabins are very simple made of bamboo and mine had a lot of repairs that need to be done in some broke and leaking parts. The bathroom is typical oriental style with no flush, sink or shower. Just a bucket to do everything. The work hours are in the morning and on the afteernon is rest time. As the farm is far from the district or the city there is not much to do on the rest of the day. Bring mosquito repelent and toilet paper!

PinanJim os an amazing person with so much knowledge. Him and his wife made me feel very welcome from day one. It was truly an immersive experience into the lifestyle and culture of Northern Thailand people and I'm surely planning a torn in the near future to stay and learn more!

I left the HHH farm a little bit earlier because I didn't really enjoy my experience that much. There is no 2 days off per week as promised. We pay money to be there, It's not easy work and rest/recover was needed for my body, so I went to rest out somewhere else. Parts I didn't really enjoy: around 50% of the work was around the animals (hungry buffalo & chickens), and I'm a vegetarian. Mostly, it was just not my thing to follow the Master/guru and cope with the superiority vibe while not being able to express myself fully, afraid of calling me stupid, ignorant. I won't come back.
