I have worked at couple hostels but the hostel was my favorite! All the people I worked with are all amazing they are organized but still with the relax beach vibe (river vibe) volunteers get to use kayaks when ever and the river is perfect for morning swims mid day swims and night swims! I pretty much lived and worked in my swim suit! Ohhh and the food! So so delicious! I am going to miss the other workers the most tho! Thank you day'Ron and Emilia for making my volunteering the best love you all!!!<333

Dear Lihnea,

Thank you for your amazing review! We're absolutely thrilled to hear that Yellow Sun Hostel stands out as your favorite among the hostels you've worked at. It's fantastic that you found the people you worked with to be amazing and that they managed to strike the perfect balance between organization and a relaxed beach vibe.

We're delighted that our volunteers had the chance to enjoy kayaking and the river for refreshing swims at any time of the day. It sounds like you truly embraced the beach lifestyle by living and working in your swimsuit!

We're also touched that you enjoyed our delicious food and that Day’Ron and Emilia left a lasting positive impression on you. We'll make sure to pass on your kind words to them.

Thank you once again for your dedication and for making your volunteering experience memorable. We'll miss you too, and you're always welcome back at Yellow Sun Hostel!

Warm regards,
Yellow Sun

P.S.
All the animals miss you and send their love!!

Volunteering at the hostel has been so much fun! Everyone is super friendly and welcoming. The work is straightforward and easy, mainly bartending, making coffee/smoothies, checking people in, and taking food orders. It's so easy to meet other travellers and make friends. Highly recommend this host. Shoutout to Day'Ron and Emilia for making this experience so good :)

I loved my time at the hostel! The best part was the people, travellers & locals, everyone here was amazing & I made some really good friends. This hostel is such a beautiful chilled place, right on the river with some of the best sunset views in Kampot. The work itself was super easy and laid back, pretty much just bar work, checking people in, general tidying of the social area & chatting to guests. the hostel is a simple, relaxed hostel, so the accommodation is super basic, don't expect A/C lol. Only negative is volunteers arrange their dorm themselves (could be more organised).

It was my first volunteering, and the experience was all that I wished for! It was perfect and memorable. I loved each and every day of my stay, and i will return if destiny allows. For someone who expects great facilities, this is not a place for you. the hostel offers basic facilities for stay but within the nature, I don't think one could ask for more. The host has always been supportive, and hears you out if you have any suggestions or issues. Working shifts are given accordingly and food is yummy! You get to learn how to makes cocktails and socialise with the customers. I loved my stay!

The overall experience was great. Nice people, nice location… The only thing I really didn't like was the room for the staff. I didn't feel very comfortable

We appreciate your honesty regarding the staff room. We apologize if it didn't meet your expectations and made you feel uncomfortable. We'll certainly take this into consideration and explore ways to improve the comfort and ambiance of the staff room in the future.

Thank you again for volunteering with us and providing valuable feedback. Your insights will help us enhance the experience for future volunteers. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back and provide an even better experience next time.

Overall this is a good opportunity. The work itself is easy and the hostel does have a great vibe. If you're looking for a place to chill and meet other travelers, this is the right place ! Things to keep in mind : - The hostel is quite far from the city. If you don't rent a motorbike, it can be costly to go out. - Come with an open mind because the boundaries are not always respected and the lack of communication can be confusing/frustrating - You will work at least 36 hours a week not 30 (maybe the description has changed now) - Get a SIM card, the wifi doesn't work in the dorm !

Thank you for your feedback. We did say it work 6 hours a day. 6 day a week. and our hostel it not to far from town it only 5km from town of kampot. Our place it hostel chill and lively at night time. Good to meet new people traveler. It said on our profile. We only take 4 volunteer minimum. Morning shift and evening shift. And we always had local staff helping out all the time. And any questions or issues just tell us we would fix it out. Anyway thanks for your feedback.

Hey thank you for you feedback. we did said on our profile work 6hour a day 6day a week. but you can work for 4 or 5 day and take a day off not a problem. and our offer 3 meals a day and drink. breakfast u can make yourself we had like fruit eggs toast rice salad and other. lunch and dinner Volunteer discuss what to eat and when to eat the chief will make it. And our place is hostel basic and any issues u come and tell us we would fix. And the volunteers here we take only 4 minimum. And we had our local staff help out all the time. About no hot water cuz we are outside town basic hostel. And also you have to understand what is exchange culture. We had lots volunteer that they been work here and they enjoy they always extend them stay. For Javier the first day that you start to join us we could see that you can't fit here. Cuz you maybe come from the rich family or u never had experience volunteer or work much before and you expect to much. Again thanks for you feedback
