The experience was great, tough but rewarding!! The job is hard, it is literally cleaning shit most of the time 😂💩 but the love the dogs give you back is incalculable!! Jessica and his husband are amazing hosts, they provide you with a comfortable place to stay, a working kitchen and can't forget the pizza night!! Big plus the view from the hotel, having breakfast looking at the Cordillera Blanca while the alpaca are roaming in the grass around you is for sure something I'll miss!! Overall really worth it and recommend!!

First days were a bit rough until you get the system. If they teach you properly it will be easy, otherwise you will waste valuable time that can be used to walk the dogs. The experience is hard. Dogs bark a lot, fight with each other and plenty of pop to clean. If you can deal with that it is a very rewarding experience. We had our own room and was quite comfortable to sleep. They don't give breakfast but some common food as rice, potatoes, tomatoes, onions..Laundry is 10 soles that goes for dog food. Great volunteer for fit, patience and not squeamish people! Area is really beautiful!!

If you really like dogs and are not disturbed by the smell that can be quite strong, this experience is a must do. I had the chance of being there at the same time as multiple persons, and this team was great in work and outside. I felt home for a few weeks, which is a precious feeling when traveling. You might fall in love with a dog, keep that in mind. Don't wear fancy clothes, be kind and caring, and everything will be good. You'll be welcomed and placed in good hands. Have a nice stay :)

It was my first volunteer in a dog shelter and I can say that it was one of the best experiences that I've had. I've felt very comfortable in the shelter, meeting new people and learning more about care and respect for animals. The work is hard, but rewarding. I could feel very touched with each dog. Also, the hotel was equipped with everything necessary. I hope to come back soon. Super recommended!!

Enjoyed my time here with the dogs and everyone. Be prepared to work hard, but all the dogs are super friendly and you get lots of interaction with them so it's totally worth it. Instructions and timetable are nice and clear and you still have plenty of free time. The hotel you stay in is also nice, as are the team. Highly recommend!

Ser voluntaria en el refugio fue gratificante y desafiante. El proyecto es hermoso, y ver el impacto en los perros llenó mi corazón de esperanza y amor. Lamentablemente, tuvimos que acortar nuestra estadía por una lesión que sufrió mi compañera. Sugiero en privado algunas mejoras para hacer el voluntariado menos agotador. La región es preciosa, el espacio de los voluntarios es cómodo, y ofrecen alimentos básicos para que cocine. Si no habla inglés puede ser un desafío, pero para quien necesita platicar es genial. La experiencia fue muy especial y gratificante! Extraño a los perritos 🥹

Muy buen ambiente para conocer a otros viajeros internaciones, sobre todo si te gustan los animales aunque las tareas sean un poco exigentes pasar tiempo con ellos va a merecer muchísimo la pena. Además que se pueden hacer varios trekkings y conocer el pueblo de Carhuaz.

Volunteering at the shelter was truly amazing! All the people were so lovely and friendly! I really enjoyed working with the dogs. The work is pretty hard but the love you get from all the dogs is so nice ☺️ I would defenitely recommend volunteering at the shelter!!

The shelter es AMOR❤️‍🔥 Ser voluntario en the shelter fue la mejor forma de agradecer todos los años del amor que recibí alguna vez de mi perrito. Al principio el trabajo puede parecer un poco fuerte, pero vale la pena cada minuto que estás en el albergue por todo lo que la experiencia te da. Conexión con perritos, conexión con naturaleza,noches de pizza, amig@s locales y amig@s extranjero@s, sentirte como en casa compartir en familia y todo esto pasaba en un entorno increíble viendo Nevados y hermosas montañas a diario. Me voy más feliz de lo que vine... Gracias por todo Kishur y Jessi. 🐕💙

Jota es una excelente persona muy responsable con el cuidado de nuestros peludos, las labores son intensas pero el resultado es gratificante en distintas maneras. Además es un buen conductor y nos ayudo a movilizar a nuestros cachorros a la ciudad para un evento de adopciones y también les dio un buen baño! Es una persona agradable y de buen corazón, le deseamos lo mejor en su viaje y futuras experiencias de voluntariado!

When we first arrived at the hotel where we stayed with the volunteers of the shelter, we were warmly welcomed by the hosts and the volunteers (and the dogs). Working in the shelter is so much fun and you feel really loved by all the dogs! The dogs really loved the people around them and the attention they got from everybody. We really liked and recommended this place to everyone who love working with dogs or want to adopt a dog. We are going to miss all the dogs, the hosts and the people we've met.
