I founded a family in kartoffell hotel, Thanks Olaf for everything. I'm glad to meet the staff ( Vale and Angela ♥) and the ladies in housekeeping were so nice, and always helped me and the volunteers, thanks for everything ♥ THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW: 1. The position the page offers you, not always is the same one you will do. 2. Was not my case but many volunteers the majority of time they need work more hours than 6h ( mandatory) 3. Breakfast and Dinner✅ but lunch ❌ ( better you buy food) 4. the hostel lessons are useful for beginners (level 0) not for intermediate level.

Hello Danni, thank you for your kind words about our potato hotel family. Unfortunately, I have to disagree with some of your critical comments. The German lessons are always useful, you just have to make the effort and go regularly. A rich breakfast, lunch and dinner is available every day, you just have to be on time for the meal times. Not a single volunteer has to work more than 6 hours a day here, that's total nonsense. Every workaway should enter their working hours publicly at the beginning and end of their work every day, so that we also have a good opportunity to control this. Unfortunately, you didn't do that and neither did the volunteer you mentioned. It can definitely come to overtime, but this is then compensated for at the latest a week later by working less. Your example of overtime was at a wedding where the volunteer you mentioned was supposed to be helping at a champagne reception and working two hours longer. Unfortunately, the volunteer just left without saying anything and preferred to go shopping with you in town. Of course, after such an incident, there is a critical feedback discussion. I hope you understand that. Olaf

In general the experience was ok, is a great place to be close to nature and the hostel culture and learn some vocabulary, there is some things that I think can be improve: 1. The hours agree to work are 6, but sometimes they request to you to work extra time, I think this should be a mutual agreement, not mandatory. 2. the hostel class is just 1 day per week what in my case wasn't enough, as my goal were improve the hostel and with one class it's not enough. 3. There is some rude people you may need to deal with, not just costumers but also some employees.

Hello Marcela, you are right our potato hotel is a really great place. Unfortunately I have to disagree with some of your critical comments. We have many opportunities to learn and practice the German language. German lessons are just one option. It is best to talk to the local people. Unfortunately, you hardly used this opportunity. I don't know if you were shy or uninterested in your colleagues, but you hardly tried to talk to the local people. I would also like to say something about your criticism of the extra work. Not a single volunteer has to work more than 6 hours a day here, that's total nonsense. Every workaway should publicly enter their working hours at the beginning and end of their work each day so that we have a good opportunity to monitor this as well. Unfortunately, you rarely did. There may well be overtime, but this will be compensated for by less work a week later at the latest. Your example of working overtime was at a wedding, where you were supposed to be helping out at a champagne reception and working two hours extra. Unfortunately, in the middle of your work, you just left without a word and preferred to go shopping in the city. Of course, after such an incident, there is a critical feedback discussion. I hope you understand. Olaf
