If you are looking to explore Lanquin and Semuc Champey this is the best way to do it but you will soon find the real beauty lies in the people. I met tons of incredibly interesting and awesome people from all over the world, formed deep and heartfelt connections with the other volunteers and locals, and left with my heart full of all the love I received from everyone there. I arrived looking for an opportunity to learn and grow and left with my expectations exceeded. I learned a lot about the world, about people and about myself. If anything resonates the hostel is the place for you.

I loved my time at the hostel so much I extended my stay by 2 extra weeks! The work is fast-paced but super enjoyable and easy to learn. All the guests and staff I met made my time so wonderful, this is the perfect place if you want to relax, have a good time, and meet tons of cool people :)

The hostel is an experience where I immersed myself in the local culture; listening to the locals in their native language is amazing! Despite several hours of work and having to work during Easter week, which was a lot, I had fun! They were always flexible and understanding. I was able to develop many skills, thanks to everyone for welcoming me ❤️

My time here has been amazing, offering professional growth and immersion in Maya culture. Hearing Maya spoken casually at work has been a joy. Life at the hostel, amidst serene surroundings, is bustling but relaxing. Despite brief encounters, the local community at the hostel feels like family. My supportive manager tailors opportunities to our skills, and as an Instagrammer, I've shared the beauty of the place. While visitors come for tours like the Lanquín River and Semuc Champey, it's the warmth of the local community that truly sets this experience apart. #SenseOfBelonging

Must have stamina! I loved my time here, I ended up extending by 2 weeks but it does require a high degree of energy and adaptability. The shifts are all bartending and creating a fun environment for the guests, but it's also a full on restaurant job so accuracy, speed and customer service are also important. The days are 6.5 hours a day, 6 days a week which is a bit more than advertised, but still leaves plenty of time to enjoy the hostel and activities. Overall it was an amazing time as long as you are up for it! The friends you make along the way will be worth all the sleepless night

El hostel es una gran opcion para sumergirte en la montaña, disfrutar del rio y compartir con compañeros locales y viajeros de todo el mundo. Se respeta lo acordado previamente. Asi como es un lugar de fiesta, tambien es un lugar donde es facil encontrar tranquilidad. Recomiendo el hostel a todo viajero que quiera estar en la naturaleza en un entorno divertido. La comida que te dan es de restaurante y esta muy bien lograda. Los horarios estan bien organizados y nadie te pide nada fuera de tu shift. Si eres dj, disfrutaras mucho de esto en el bar de la piscina y en noche de fiestas.

Beyond grateful for this amazing experience in the Guatemalan jungle! As a volunteer, I got to learn how to bartend, go tubing, explore the town of Lanquín, see Semuc Champey, and so much more! Gracias por todo y los extraño mucho :)

The hostel is an amazing hostel with an amazing team. It's a nice mix of locals and people from all over the world. Everyone is so nice and fun. It is relatively a lot of hours, but they do double check if you are fine with that beforehand. Eventho it's a lot of hours, most of your shifts are at night so during the day you have a lot of free time still. And during shift it usually doesn't feel like working anyway because you are having fun with your colleagues. The only thing that was a bit disappointing is that the room shown on the pictures is not the staff house where you will be sleeping.

El hostel, es un lugar hermoso y con vistas espectaculares, sin embargo es fácil aburrirse, te recomiendo preguntar al staff qué actividades puedes puedes hacer fuera del hostal para que no te consuma la rutina. Te recomiendo este voluntariado si te gusta la fiesta y tienes mucha energía social, ya que es un trabajo demandante. La comida es buena y si te aburre el menú puedes pedir comida de staff, la cual suele ser más casera. La mayoría del staff son personas agradables, sin duda me llevo buenos recuerdos del hostel y las personas con las que me tocó coincidir.

The hostel is a beautiful hostel with amazing travellers. Living conditions and management couldn't be better. However welcomed the management made me feel the local staff really dented my experience, to the point where I felt very uncomfortable and was ready to leave two weeks in. The team needs some serious work on understanding what the expectations of a volunteer is. As a girl and two previous girl volunteers, working here was uncomfortable and very isolating. This is disappointing as this volunteer opportunity has a beautiful potential.
