It was a wonderful experience. I gained a lot of international friends. Also hostel is at very wonderful Edinburgh City. I'll recommend people to try this volunteering experience.

The hostel was a wonderful experience, I loved being a part of the team. Everyone was kind, the work was easy and clearly outlined. The long term staff and volunteers have worked hard to make the hostel a great place to live and volunteer, if you want a great stay in a very cool city this is the place for you!

The hostel is in the perfect location to explore Edinburgh, and you'll meet so many amazing volunteers! The experience is what you make it, and you can trust Stephanie to do what she can to help you have a great time. I would recommend asking for pictures of the volunteer room if you're interested in applying!

Overall I had a good experience at the hostel! The hours were consistent with what was agreed on before arrival and the other volunteers were all very friendly! In my opinion, the volunteers' room was too small for 8 people but I felt very comfortable around the other volunteers so it wasn't a problem.

I had my first time volunteering at the hostel and had a fun and adventurous time. It is located great to explore all of Edinburgh. The work hours were fair with plenty of time to spend the rest of the day outside. What I enjoyed the most were definitely the friendships I made with the other volunteers. I extended my stay and enjoyed the city a few days longer. However, there were some disputes within the management, which also extended to the volunteer team and created an uncomfortable atmosphere. Hopefully next time such an incident can be solved more peacefully. I still enjoyed my time! :)

I had a good experience overall, I made great friendships with the other employees and volunteers here, and the city is a beautiful and fun place to be in! My only complaints is that the hostel is not extremely clean, nor is it a nice and cozy place to live, plus the volunteers room was very small for 8 people to live in. I would still recommend this experience because the city and people are amazing!

This was my second experience after a very good one. I ended up leaving a week before my original date because I wasn't having a good time. The staff were amazing and the work itself is very simple and fair. The city is wonderful!! The downside was the hostel itself, it isn't a very nice place, and doesn't feel very safe and homey. Also the guests are mostly not travellers and there are many long term guests which really makes the vibe very different to other hostels... There are just places that are much nicer, but if you're looking for a bed in a great city this is a good place to go.

Hello, Kaya. We were surprised by your review. It is the first time in more than 96 travelers that we have received 3 stars. We understand that you didn't adapt and so you left earlier, but it's not fair to everything we've done for you and that we've been understanding of your departure before, even though it harmed the hostels schedule at the time we needed it most and volunteers. About your guest review, maybe you lacked more time for you. Because it is normal in a Hostel in low season to have different profiles. In high season our city receives thousands of tourists and the environment is totally different.

My experience at the hostel from a social view was amazing. I felt like it was a home away from home. I'll keep this memory in my heart forever. Thanks for every special moment, I didn't wanna leave! Also, I think that there are things to get better, like not having employees for housekeeping is kinda hard for volunteers, my last week was almost 2 shifts per day everyday. Is it an easy work? yes. But it becomes heavy when you have two shifts in a day in a currently way. I think that if they put employees and the volunteers keep the manteinance, both works will be better. It's a suggestion

Hi Agustina. It's a pity that you feel that way and didn't feel free to give this Feedback before.
I would have explained the Hostel rules for Housekeeping:
You accepted these rules before you came, and they were sent very carefully before your arrival.
"You would need to work 6 hours a day once a week and 5 hours a day 5 times a week. Your shift: 5 days a week, totaling 27h/week + 2 day off. "
Regarding what you said above, regarding doing double shift in Housekeeping (it's 3h in the morning + 2h at night = 5h) our agreement.
And you know it wasn't every time in the week that it happened like this. Often volunteers do only 3 hours a day. Also, you asked to leave earlier, the last week was tougher because you know we lost volunteers and that's not fair to us.
We are very careful to honor our agreements.
I hope it may have been clear because it is very important to cherish the experience of all our volunteers.

I honestly enjoyed my time spent at the hostel! Like most of the comments here say, this place makes you feel like home, you meet so many amazing people from all over the world and the environment is super friendly! If you're thinking of volunteering here, definitely do it, you won't regret it at all!

I spent almost 3 weeks in this hostel and I've had a blast! Everyone is so welcoming and this felt like a big family. We cook together, play pool, have movie nights, go out together... we basically have fun all the time! The work is super easy and flexible. Adam is always making sure that we're having a good time and he's accommodating with everything. I basically had a great time and met amazing people!! Thank you the hostel for everything 😁
